    Default Generation X

This decade was supposed to be our prime, instead its going to be remembered as the worst decade in the past century. The d**n baby boomers screwed us with the whole bad loan fiasco during the 1st half of the decade, 911, Katrina, Oil spills. Sometimes I wish I was born in the mid 70's instead of the mid 80's. I remeber the days nback in the 90's when flying was fun and an adventure, now its just annoying. What a rip . History has shown that every generation has some event or chance to make it big. 80's had tech boom. 90's had a even bigger tech boom, and military/weapons boom. The turn of century had real estate boom and bigger tech boom. Now what do have to look forward to? Horrible housing prices, nearly impossible to have great credit. I know there have been bad times in the past, and history repeats itself. Do you guys see hope at all while Generation Y is still in their prime?

Well first let's slow down. It has been the only decade so far in the century, so calling it the worst is not exactly saying much .

And what do we have to look forward too? Well right now there is still the wireless revolution. Also those "booms" that you referred too are all what screwed us over this decade lol, the Tech bubble at the beginning of the decade and the housing bubble in '08. So I would not really see those bubbles as exactly great things. And no, sorry, things will not be much better in the future as we will be the first American generation in a long long time to actually be worse off than our parents, only 1 in 10 of us will make as much as our parents do (taking inflation into consideration of course). Then again, these dumbass "experts" also predicted during the last generation that we would be working 4 hours a day from home 4 days a week by now, so what the do they know, the future will be what it is...predicting it too long term is just dumb.

hahaha I should say the past 100 years, but that is and exageration of course. Easily the worst decade of the last 50 years.

That I can agree to. I consider the 60's a terrible time (political change, sorry I'm conservative and hate hippies lol), but this decade has definitely been worse than the 70's, 80's and especially the 90's.

Well, depends. Unless it is not as crazy as 30s, and the improvement of technology actually guarantee the greatest personal freedom we have for ages. Overall, the world is transfering into a new period, yet unlike all change in past it is rather a peaceful transfer.

Think of the bright side at least you have a better economic outlook then those of us who were born right on the generation X/Y border. We got major problems coming up in our future too and arent as established economically right now

Worse than the 1960s that saw the Vietnam War, Cuban Missile Crisis, creation of the Berlin Wall, the 1967 Arab-Israeli War and the assassinations of JFk, RFK and MLK.

Your correct on that, Post has been edited. The baby boomers made the decisions and generation x just carried them out.

What's kinda ironic is that the Generation that screwed things up for us lived through such good times, all have fat healthy pensions to fall back on. So while they're enjoying their retirement and the good times, we're left to work longer and work harder to sort out the mess they left. No doubt at a lesser standard of living than they enjoyed. This is more the baby boomers though than Generation X.

Well, our situation is definately better than post-WWI generation, who were screwed very badly by their parent generation.

The Baby boomers, who as youths were romanticized as beautiful young people rocking the foundations of Western complacency in order to fight the status quo, produced some of the worst leaders of the late XX and early XXI centuries.

As for this decade being the worst in quite a long time, that depends on where you're from. The 2000s were terrible for America, but those years were specially glorious for my own country. Never has Brazil been so prosperous as it is now.

some ppl do get annoyed that since the baby boomer's are going to be retiring within the decade or so, that's going to put extra strain on generations X and Y who're going to have to work more for less.

personally, i'm neutral on that subject

All the decades had their ups and downs, only you were too young to really notice them or not there at all. Now its 'your' problem and you want to complain about it, that will get things done.

Added this is 'your' president if you go back who the younger vote went for, so enjoy!

For you to blame this on Obama is laughable at best. I hope that wasn't meant to be taken seriously. According to you if one has a problem one should never complain or address it? Your also implying that I'm not doing anything about it. I work a full-time job and I go to school full time including summer so yes I am doing something about it. Please don't assume something about someone you know nothing about. I have every right to complain about it if I choose to.

When I do finally retire how am I going to be supported? I can only rely on my 401k for so much. Social Security will be dried up by then. Basically I have to find a high paying job and save as much as possible. Meanwhile I will be paying taxes for the previous generations mistakes. Who evefr came up with this system didn't put in a fail safe plan.

I guess we can blame Hitler for this. Without Hitler there is no WWII. Without WWII there is no baby boom. With no baby boom there is far less mouths to feed and less people sucking up SSI. The jerk-off CEO's working for the big lenders might not be around as well and BOOM problem solved.... This is all speculation of course
