Can anyone tell me what the heck this is? Just found it not too long ago.

I feel so conflicted. I'm inclined to hate it and love it at the same time.

Whoever made this sure does know how to shoot a fight with the right people at least, because the guy playing Johnny Cage is Matt Mullins, who's a 5-time martial arts world champion.

Seems like the Nolanesque style grittiness and realism from the Batman movies is really catching on these days.

I find your odd random posts in the Arts section kind of amusing but yes, according to CHUD this is for a Mortal Kombat movie. All the talent involved in this snippet makes this very likely as well.

As for Matt Mullins...martial artists starring in action movies? What will they think of next?

Jesus... He obviously means that a five times world champion's character should have a much more important role than dying in the preliminaries of the movie.

No, that's not at all what he said. I don't know what you're interpreting into his simple statement.

I saw this a few days ago. Thats some pretty awesome production quality for a movie pitch. It reminds me of Blomkamp's short film pitch for District 9. Looks pretty cool. I hope the project gets a go.

Because you don't have to be a rocket scientist to realise that when an action movie has a five times world champion of martial arts in the cast, the director would be stupid to waste him on a pety role of like 2 minutes instead of saving him for the leading roles... Which is what they have done in this case by having Mullin's character killed in the preliminaries. Hence the comment that they don't know how to shoot a film properly. It doesn't get any more obvious.

It's a sharp contrast to the original Mortal Kombat movie IMO, since only one person in the cast had a martial arts background.

Michael Jai White (the guy playing Jax) is also a highly accomplished martial artist himself.

Yep, it's in order to greenlight a possible movie reboot of the series. So don't pay too much regard to the storyline. (like Reptile having that weird disease I won't try to spell and Baraka not coming from an other realm)

You should as the story line in the short film is what they are trying to sell. As the visuals etc don't matter so much as the concept working for the studio execs. And the concept for a new MK movie is what the short film is showing.

You can slap any name on a movie these days.

Leave it to the modder to perfect the works of the paid developers for no profit at all.

Do you play Morrowind? Do you like old castles, ferocious hairy beasts, expansive wintry forests, and killing dark elves?

Then check out Skyrim: Home of the Nords! A mod for TES III: Morrowind.
