Icon6 how to conquer a full stack city

well, this is based on my last battle, me (as denmark) vs the holy roman empire (as the holy roman empire) well first of all, the HRE was in their city with a full stack (note: he attack me first so i have the right to counterattack ) so then, i send a little army just to bother them, the army consist of a light cavalry unit, a infantry unit and a archers unit, they see my pathetic army so open the doors to destroy them, i run to the border of the map and my infantry began to fight...........they were utterly vanquished so then!!! my archers run to a side and all enemy army follow it, and my cavalry (they were only 7 left) get into the city, take all the door (just to be sure) and confortable wait the 3 minutes while the imperial army chase my archers, the time finish and i won the city

anyone has conquer a city with a similar tactic???

Heh, as Denmark, I have some light cav to circle into the city while some light infantry provide the bait. It's a good tactic if the enemy has little to no cavalry.

I find that the AI often do stupid and weird things on siege battles myself.

I've done similar things in siege defense....

If I have some cavalry or skirmishers. I'll position them outside of the gate or around a corner from the main square. right as the counter is getting down to 45 seconds, I'll charge towards the square and then retreat, keeping the counter reset. That way you can keep the city. But, as was said before, it only works is the enemy doesn't have any cavalry units.

Thats gonna take a while bro....all 60 minutes of it lol
Wouldn't you rather loose the city in all earnest and attempts to take it back?

Exploiting the AI stupidity isn't fun

I have a slightly more bloody strategy... I love archery you see, and my byzantine guard archers tend to out-range opponents so I let them hammer enemies first. Then I take the walls using 2 siege towers (right next to each other as to make for a larger immediate and concentrated presence of my troops on their walls) with spear-men or heavy blunt infantry, this creates enough space for my knights to arrive and take the rest of the walls. From there I summon my Archers again, spreading them around all 4 walls as to entrap the enemy. Following this I aggrivate the enemy by using light cavalry to pick them off and irate them enough to chase my troops, which brings them into fire from my archers. By this time I will have lined up my heavy-medium infantry and cavalry enough to take the town center, viola a win! In case of a fortress I just sit my archers outside of the second walls long enough for the enemy to die out .
