Will there be another preview with Romani, i was thinking of marius and augustian reforms?

At the moment, the only Roman troops for the first release are the Camillan era ones that you have seen. With 30 factions needing at least a basic roster to be playable, the focus has necessarily been on the units that we need to even start the game, i.e. early, pre-reforms and events. I'm sure that once we get the first release together, the Polybian-type Roman units will be very high on the list for development.

Yeah, remember that we are making EB2, not RTW2. Our mod isn't focused on romans.

Nice preview. I like the units and I like the animations.

The previews so far depict various pre-Marian Roman units accurately to early 2nd century BC. The reforms themselves, of course, took place during that century, but they were not an overnight event, and were caused by both Gaius Marius and the advent of gears of war: even though men still had procure their own gear before the reforms, the advent of gears of war had by 2nd century BC caused the classical appearance of pre-Marian Roman legions to resemble more and more of the appearance of post-Marian legions, with classical Italic armor variations giving way to chainmail.

Will we see the advent of gears of war on pre-Marian units with unit upgrades?

Simply magnificent Are You planning to link the authority buildings with the amount of rebels in certain province, I mean the rebel army that pop out from time to time? To be more precise is it possible in the game mechanics that badly governed provinces will "produce" some rebel army outside the province capital?

Superb work guys,...these are one of the best romans I ever saw!!!I would fight with these for millenias,.....no need for marian legions!!

Just a question:Are principes meant to be spearman?Shouldn't they have swords besides their pila,...just like hastati,..while the triariis are spearman?

A unit can only carry two weapons, so they chose the spear and the pila for the Principes.

Polybian principes will carry swords. The Camilan version at the beginning of the game carry spears. Our evidence is from the writings of Polybios and Livy.

There is a brief explanation of our decision to arm the hastati with swords and principes with spears here.

And they do carry swords, I think. They just don't use them.

VonVince, most likely they'll be separate units rather than upgrades. There's too much that needs changing.

I may be new here, but this mod looks like it could be the best.

You have a keen eye my friend , by the looks of the previews the team has really took it to a new level; and EB I was already on a tremendous level so in my opinion on completion the mod will be the best .

It's definitely going a few levels onward, though that's also why it's taking quite a while.
