Hi. I want to upgrade my PC and I wanted to ask what you think of this:

CPU: AMD ATHLON II X3 440 3.0GHZ SKT AM3 64bit or AMD PHENOM II X4 925 2.8GHZ SKT AM3 6MB 64bit
Motherboard: AMD ASUS M4A77TD AM3 DDR3 PCX
3 GB DDR3 1333 CL9 KINGSTON TRIPLE CHANNEL Ram
1GB POINTOFVIEW 9800GT PCX HDMI

Another question:

Does anybody have problems playing Total War games (or other games) or mods on Windows 7 64bit or any 64bit system? I ask because I don't know if I should upgrade my OS to Win7; even if XP 32bit works ok on my PC.

Might want to reconsider your video card, the 9800 GT is at least 2 years old. If you can run XP without any issues, then don't upgrade unless you are looking to play DX10 or DX11 games.

drop the triple channel ram, it will not use that.

go for at least 4g of DDR3 1600mhz ram, its cheap these days, the ripjaw series are a good value

I would also go for the phenom

and the gpu, get a 5770 or a 5850

Agreed. I have a Phenom II X3 720 (2.8GHz BE), 4GB DDR3 1600 RAM, and an XFX 5770. Runs pretty much any game great on ultra settings (at 1920x1080)

The 5770 has great performance for the money, and the phenom is just a little more than similar athlons.

Also, I play ETW on Win7 64 bit with no problems. You should get Win7, it's great
