Increasing performance

And I'm not referring to Extenze here.

My computer is quite old, but its the only thing I have for gaming at the moment and I was just curious as to what I could do to better its performance when I'm playing Star Wars Empire at War. Also, my graphics are set to low, so is there anyting I can do short of adding hardware or getting a new computer?

If you could post your specs, that would be helpful.

But some ways would be trimming your services and running programs, and cleaning out your computer in general (temporary files, etc).

Try updating your drivers for a start, don't get the latest as they don't always mean best performance. You have to google to find out which set of drivers gives the best performance for your video card.

You can also try overclocking your video card or CPU, but don't overdo it or you'll lose your only computer for gaming.

For ATi drivers, I believe 10.2 are the best at the moment. Try using GameBooster to cut down on unnecessary services while gaming, when I used to use it the only thing I kept running was the AVG process for antimalware
