I Keep Getting AI Reinforcements

I don't trust the AI to not have my men slaughtered against a battle-line of phalanx but every time I try and fight a battle, no matter if the box is checked or unchecked, I keep getting reinforcements that are under control of the AI!

What the crap do I have to do to make sure they are under my command exactly? I really don't even need them, I just want them on the side and to stay out of trouble, but we all know the AI. It's a freaking suicide thing.

Well basically you have to uncheck the box beside the army - best repeat it a one or two times...

...but if you afterwards right click on the enemy army to see what it has got, you
need to do that again.

It should be the last thing you do before starting the battle.

Well if the reinforcement army is commanded by a general, The AI will automatically control it. If you have a captain, the box system applies.

Interesting didn´t know that. So there is nothing one can do about it?
And that sucks btw. My dull AI generals get often enough killed and all his troops are fleeing after beeing crushed.

Yeah generals will always control a reinforement army. The more stars the general has, the better commander he is on the battle map. So if you have a 10 star general, he probably won't be stupid and run cavalry into spear men and just sit somewhere and do nothing while you are in range of the enemy artillery and things like that. A 1 star general definately will.

No need to waste generals - no always under control of ai - only to your like if you check the box.
I think you mixed something up here.

When a general is in the reinforcement army there is off course the box the check/uncheck wether it's
under ai control or not.

The trick is to do this more than once (check/uncheck) and to make sure it is the last thing you do
before clicking onto the start battle button. Otherwise the game somehow screws it up and the army
is under ai contol.

Is this confirmed? During all my battles against AI, I've never noticed its generals being less dumb than usual, regardless of things like number of command stars or difficulty level. As far as I know, only things that the stars change are attack, defence and perhaps morale bonuses to the grunts.

No, it's nice to think that something like that happens but it doesn't. The only difference between a ten-star general and a one-star general is the ten-star general's army will have more morale.

And also the more stars he has, the more inspiration he has too charge straight into your center phalanx
from the front.
