program that splits mp3 files
Are there any out there? I have a music track that I want split in two but have been unable to find any such programs. Not to sound cheap, but I don't want to pay for a program that I am going to use once, so it has to be free, if there is such a program.

Re: program that splits mp3 files
Audacity is pretty basic and easy to use. I've used it to extract bits and pieces from audio files many times and I'm pretty sure there's a copy/paste function if you need it, and it's free.

Also if the output is going to be in .mp3 format :

IIRC, you'll need to tell Audacity where the mp3 encoder is (just once though and it'll remember after that) so just put that in "My Documents" or wherever else it's going to be easy to find.
