What is your favourite formation and Why?
What is your favourite formation and Why?
Is that crizpy enough for ya?
Good lord people, why must everything be turned into a sexual joke these days?Heavens I hate this century....
Anyway I prefer a loose formation, so that I can adapt to any situation, general with even wings of line infantry, light infantry in front, a center elite unit, with supporting artillery and two units of light cav...

did you say that you prefer a "loose" formation Lt.Hawke?
On a serious note, I prefer light infantry behavior formation for my light infantry and skirmishers (makes them harder to kill and easier to shoot through/over), one rank formation for my line infantry (so all my men can actually fire at the enemy), and triangle formation (for added maneuverability) for my cavalry regiments (until I charge them into an enemy unit at least)!![]()

But, yeah, a loose formation, in which you can insircle the enemy is a good formation indeed.

triple line formation, 1 line of skirmishers that i concentrate at whichever flank is furthest away from the enemy's allies or in a 1v1 which ever is weakest, I also like to separate my flanks of skirmishers so i can encircle my enemy. my second line is line infantry with landwehr in the middle of them to spread them out more and make it easier to encircle. my last line is just like 1 or 2 line protecting flanks with my guards pushing on flanks when i feel they can do so without much returning fire. My cavalry is always wherever my attack is and also where my weakest point in my army is.
I have my lights 2 units deep, a few line behind for support and cav on flanks
Is the front rank of your light infantry usually kneeling down of bent over, Major Hemorrhoid's Brother?![]()
The skirmishers stand infront of the line infantry, bent over.
The line infantry shoots behind them.

bent over![]()
NICE!![]()
I like my personal favorite......the dutch oven formation.
i like the snakes head formation or the horns of the buffalo formation. these are the two formations i mainly use but i wont tell u exactly wot units go where lol..
i get cavalry on the flanks, supported by light inf. rifles are slightly more central but close enough to the light inf. to be able to flank opponents. I have a double line of infantry in the centre, with a central elite unit. artillery are usually central, but horse artillery operate on the flanks.the general is far away doing something else.
I often use France, and set up like everyone else, lights .line and cav on flanks. One thing I do different is that I allways try to keep a unit of Guard Seaman near my rear. After things start to heat up I send my Seaman into the hole in the middle because they are great for penetrating. Then they move on to the rear, But by that time they are normaly exuasted.
I see... hmmm... has anyone ever tried forming words out of your troops? I did it to a player I disliked once with help from Wisconsin Pride once. We formed F*@$# You out because we were bored. It took a bit of skill to do that.. formations like those are the best in my opinion. Also we made stupid formations like the I formation which was just us making an I out of our units.. it did nothing but was kind of funny.
Yes Scipio_Africanus, I often spell "NOOB" with my units
