FAQ - Problems running NTF

Usual problems running NTF and possible solutions:

1. Problem: Some factions luck fleets or certain ships.

Reason: That is by game's default.

Solution: Look here.

2. Where are my save files and user.script.txt?

Save file are in:C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon\save_games for vista/win7 and in C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon\save_games for winXP.

Script file is in: C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon\scriptsfor vista/win7 and in C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon\scripts for winXP.

3. Problem: when I enter in game campaign map is black and only hud is visible.

Reason: Vanilla camera bug

Solution. Just click once on mini nap and the... lights will be back on.

4. Problem: NTF 3.6 only - Cannot load a save game in emergent campaign.

Reason: Unknown

Until a solution is found, here is the previous stable file for all emergent. This campaign has not the upgraded 3 slot capitals. Download attached and place it in ...\napoleon total war\NTF\campaigns\2, folder. You have to start a new game.

Give clear infos about your problem. When you select campaign the game has not started so it cannot crash.

In save as... look fin the bottom of the window.

It can very well. and it does for me too. whenever i click "Total Factions" campaign the game crashes to desktop.

You probably have problems with your installation. Check this post and read also some before that.

Not to be rude, but tidying up the OP on the main topic and making the guide more clear could help. testing suggestions from that post. If it works, it would be a good addition to the original post.

ok ive installed toons mod
and it worked however after installed NTF+SE i get CTD after choosing a campign.
any help?

i just tried the fix in the faq, no luck.

I'm not sure if its been brought up elsewhere but I've just tried my NTF 3.3 version today and now I have no sound in that. Its been fine before. My vanillia game still has sound fine and my sound is on lol. . . any ideas?

Check your user script for any remaining command of a mod you have unistalled.

this mod looks great but I still have no idea how to put the file in unicode format, i saw the post above but im not sure how to get there please help thank you.

Open it with notepad, save as, give the same name so it will overwrite the old one, and in save as window bottom center scroll box select Unicode (see image in post 6).

Ele delete it and use my tool to create it. It will be for sure Unicode.

My installer doesn't seem to be putting a command in my user.scripts file. It is completely empty. I used your tool as well to make sure it would be compatible. Could you give me the command line perhaps to see if I can add it manually and get things rolling before I try the movie.pack fix?

You have always enter commands manually. It is on your screen, in DOS window:

mod NTF.pack;

What do you do if you have the Line of Site bug? The other fix for fog of war is to overwrite the startpos.esf file right? This one copies over that correct? Was playing as Spain could only see where units were.
