Unit availability - Peasant archers all game?
I'm new to this mod (great job btw - fantastic music in the beginning also, Last of the Mohicans yeah!), and I've searched around on the forums for the info that I'm trying to find, but no luck - I'm bad with search tools, I know.
Anyway, I've been playing England, I've been building up my castles and the like, but I can't find a way to recruit Light Men at Arms and my available unit pool at any given castle is dismally low (I can recruit 1 knight every... like 5 turns? Same with Armored Sergeants?). I looked at the honga.net unit database (http://totalwar.honga.net/faction.php?v=ss6&encode=en) and I can't figure out how to recruit more of these units (or how to get anything but Peasant archers, which are disappointingly ineffective compared to the longbowmen I remember from Vanilla).
Am I missing something? Do I just wait for an event (like gunpowder) that enables these later units? Or does playing the Early Era Campaign limit you to only spear militia / sergeants / peasant archers / hobilar / knights?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Unit availability
You have Bygs Grim Reality installed. I suggest checking out the BGR thread in the submods forum for a recruitment guide as it changes a lot.
Also, if you installed BGR through the 6.1 installer, there is a patch that you have to install at the bottom of the first post in the BGR thread (data.zip). It's not savegame compatible though.

Since you are new to the mod, I recommend reinstalling 6.1 with none of the boxes checked. You will find it a very significant upgrade over M2TW vanilla. If you are still looking for something more, you should check out RR/RC and BGR or simply upgrade to 6.2. My own research suggests that BGR is for advanced SS players.
I have been very happy with 6.2 RC4, replacing the Campaign AI with TheSavageAI (same AI from RR/RC) and Battle AI with ReallyBadAI by Germanicus (also same from RR/RC).
