    Default Unpacking?

At the moment, I get errors when I try to edit the files I can see.

And I have no clue how to unpack, the SEGA provided unpacker isn't working for me so I am a bit lost.

Could somebody help me unpack so I can fiddle with things on my own?

    Thank you.

What do you mean for exactly "unpacking"? If it's "decompressing", I would suggest to use 7zip.

What I mean is, files such as descri.units that ought to be in C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

Where you can make simple text edits to units, they don't even show. IIRC when I last played M2 you had to 'unpack' the files. It's been a while though so I don't recall exactly how this all works.

if you are talking about the .bin strings.. you don't have to unpack those just open the corresponding word files and alter those.. when you start the game, the program will alter these in new string.bins as far as i know

Wait, this used to happen to me, but then it didn't!
I got around it by copying the file in question to the desktop and editing/saving it there, and then copying it back. It works!
