Default Harriet Miers withdraws Supreme Court Nomination

Finally, a victory for conservatives over the president and his neocon cabal. I'm hoping he'll pick somebody more qualified next time with a record conservatives can be proud of.

When you are president and get an opportunity to fill two supreme court nominations, you're supposed to pick RADICALS, not the wimpy fools who are more likely than not to switch sides on you once they get on the court!

Clinton was smart enough to know that. Why isn't Bush?

No. Don't pick radicals, they'll never get passed through the Senate. Simply pick strict constructionist conservatives.

Good point. They'll still get the job done, but they have a much better chance of getting through.

Hate to burst your bubble ,but the Dems/Liberals will recoil from a Strict Construcionalist like a Vampire from a Cross.
A Strict Construcionist will not see a right to Abortion in the Constitution and will tell you that it should be left to the States to decide about Abortion.

A Strict Construcionist will be the last person the other side of the isle will vote for or support. At best they will only accept a moderate.
So stand by for a knock down, drag out fight either if The president nominate a moderate or conservative. One side or the other will not be happy.

He wouldnt dare nominate a moderate. A knock down drag out fight is what we want. We want to advance conservatism by educating the masses not by appeasing the moderates. The best way to do this is to have an open debate.

Agreed unworthy soldier - Miers I'm sure is a good legal counsel but has absolutely no judicial experience. I'm not sure I would vote for her if she was running for a local judge seat. Besides, she would always be clouded by the fact that she was so close to the Bush administration.

What's scary (and I say this as a conservative) is the far right refused to back her because she's not Radically conservative enough.

    Everybody chant:

I'm ready for the drag out fight. Unfortunately, I am not sure if Bush has the stomach for one.

Or for that matter some of the yellow spined Republicans in the Senate.
You know that the Dems will Filibuster any conservative that makes it to the floor of the Senate.

Dems blocked FAR less apointees than republicans did to Clinton, at least 10:1. So what your saying is less likely to happen.

Can Bush appoint anyone as radical and partisan as Ginsberg and not be tarred and feathered in the press. But then again we all know the American press is fair and balanced? Not to mention what the Democrats would have to say.

Wanna bet? If a conservative makes it to the floor of the Senate that means if a majority confirm then that is one more conservative on the court and a big loss of power for the Dems who have to use the courts to pass their political agenda.

The Dems are scared and will use every means to block/stop any conservative from reaching the court. They will settle for a moderate to replace Connors, which will maintain the status quo, but never a Conservative, who will tipp the scales to the right.
There will be a big nasty fight if a conservative is nominated. Just watch and see.

Yep, the Ginsberg case is the kicker. She wants to legalize sex for 13 yr old girls, legalize prostitution, legalize drugs...and the Republicans judged her on her qualifications, not her political beliefe and passed her. The Dems today would never do that.
