I'm pretty pleased to be honest....because I don't want them to make a Rome Total War sequel (since it might be a failure)
That is the stupidest comment Ive ever read. Don't do things because you might fail?
Its not as if they release a RTW2 and its a failure all of a sudden your not allowed to play RTW1. I personally dont want to play an archaic game to get my Rome total war fix for the remainder of my days. Sure it might be a failure, but It might be the greatest total war game ever made.
From an MP standpoint, a RTW2 would pull lots of the RTW MP gamers to RTW2, even if the game is crap. An RTW2 may spell the end to online RTW, which is exactly why I don't wanna see it being made. I think Max shares the same opinion (pretty sure he was the one that made me realize what RTW2 would do).
Of course, if it's good, then big whoops. However, from what has been released recently, it seems like a big risk to RTW.

What? It doesn't sound like Shogun TW to me, it sounds like Fantasy TW afterall! One particularly novel development is the introduction of hero units. These are warriors who have perfected a fighting art and can carve their way through enemy armies without much trouble at all. Based on mythologized historical figures like the warrior monk Benkei, hero units are a nearly unstoppable force on the battlefield, capable of holding bridge crossings against entire armies, or smashing through a battle line to engage the enemy general. You can counter heroes with the right tactics, such as filling them full of arrows, or by having your own hero units engage them in duels
"hero units are a nearly unmoddable force on the battlefield"
Tekken Total War
Do they have special moves? Do I need a special controller? Ooh can't wait :/
"If we didn't have cruxifixion, this country'd be in a right bloody mess"
I'm disappointed as I was hoping for Rome II. That being said, seeing CA get back to swords and bows is most welcome.
what? it's Shogun 2? why was there a Corinthian helm shown as a hint then ....![]()
O merciful God, I have such need of Your mercy now. Not for myself, but for my knights, for this is truly their hour of need. Deliver them from their trials ahead and I will pay You a thousand fold with any sacrifice You ask of me. And if in Your wisdom, You should determine that sacrifice must be my life for theirs; so that they can once again taste the freedom that is so long been denied to them, I will gladly make that covenant. My death will have a purpose. I ask no more than that.
Worthless. Would have done better to make R2TW. I will not waste money.
i think they are joking because they showed a corinthian helmet and because that article was an insult to total war fans!
Why they would spend money on officially anouncing something just to come up with something else instead then?
The time for speculation has ended - accept it finally.
I would have liked RTW2 too more but then again it makes mods like RS2 or the above mentioned EB2 and IB2 alot more
worth to be finished. Just imagine you'd be working on a mod and a few days after you released it the sequel of it's vanilla
game appears.

Nah - once people found a game they can improve by modding, they cannot wait to start improving
it's sequel as soon as it's being released since they are already used to it - seen that - done that myself
It's only the first game of a series where people spend lots of time exploring the vanilla version till the
end but sequels usually get modded up very quickly no matter what type of game or how good they are
being made.

Well if they will base the game on a better hystorical material...
Being moddable for sure would give more chances to improve the longevity of a game.
I only hope in a good game.
