Default You know what who be amazing, but we are still a few years away from?

A Total War Game (hopefully KK and the team will be up to mod this one too) that uses the Euphoria engine. Just think about it! Soldiers getting kicked off walls, some of them hanging on for dear life. The epic charges would be soooo awsome with men getting knocked straight on their ass! If fighting was taking place near a catapult, if a man is struck down, and his body fell on a catapult just as it fired, he would be flung over the wall as well! The possiblities are endless! Again, we are definantly a few years away before this is technologiclly possible, but man would it be awsome. Mods, I'm sorry if this seems like a pointless thread, delete if you would like, just thought about this and felt the need to share it with you guys.

Its a real-time animation creator that uses physics. In other-words, it accually creates new animations on the fly using physics properties. Basicly, you would never see the same collision twice, and almost anything could happen (see catapult example). Check out this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ix_kl2n7tj8

It explains it very well. I personally think it's the future of gaming, we will see though. GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption use this. As well as the new American football game BackBreaker. Its amazing in my opinion.

That would be truly amazing. Is it kind of like the Company of Heroes Engine? (The name escapes me)

Yes that was impressive , but Euphoria would blow it away. At the moment its not even technologicly possible.

The euphoria engine is immense and had made some real progress over the years, i remeber the first game it was in (the name escapes me) and it wasnt very realistic, but i have been on red dead redemption for the past few days and it's looking stunning.

For those who don't know what it is, it is basically a game engine that simulates physics and human V elemental reactions in real-time situations. For examle, if you shot a man will a small caliber gun, in the shoulder, he would reel backwards like in life, but probably stay on his feet. If you did the same with, say a rife/shotgun, he would reel back, fall and hit the ground realistically. It also includes environment in it aswell, NPC and characters react with the environment aswell.

Bearing in mind that this is being used know is almost every console, excluding PC's, and most games, I don't think it could be that long before we see it in games such as TW.

Oh,@LL, we have a perfectly good lotr game right here

Ya, i got Red Deaad Redemption the the Euphoria engine was just amazing. So realistic its amazing.
But ya, you cant add just some engine to this game. You'd have to make a whole new game, and just add it like that

Problem i see is that with it being CPU bound it would lag crazy in large battles. Has anyone ever played Red faction guerrilla on the PC?

For TATW i would rather have some third person mode if anything where you control the little soilder on the battlefield, where you can block and attack freely. Now that would be awesome.

The physics with the engine would be great indeed!! But I prefer just like you that a third person combat style would be awsome in TATW. Just think about being an Uruk-hai or a Gondor soldier slashing away at your oppenents

There are tons of games like that like Lord of the rings conquest. The point of TATW is an rts that doesn't suck like battle for middle-earth did.

Lord of the rings Conquest was a flop!! I mean a real proper hack and slash in the lord of the rings era.
Or a rts like this, but with a chance to toggle from bird-eye view to third person!

If you're into such games, I recommend Kingdom Under Fire, superb strategy game which allows you to also participate in battles first hand(but forget about the rest of the battle and you're screwed xD). Its sequel is coming out soon.

hmmm very interesting indeed. i for one would like to see body parts fly off when you either shoot someone with a heavy caliber weapon or hack there head off with a sword. I think that is what is really missing in the TW series. Hopefully if this new engine will change that. And to hell with the game ratings.Thax for the info.
