what exactly does this mean?
if i place my archers in the woods do they shoot better?
there could be rep in it for anyone that answers my really simple questions

No its only melee-based.
depends on what the bonus value is in the export_descr_unit file - differentfor each unit.
usually its just +1
depends on the unit, special units might get up to +3, don't count on more than that
and yes, its only melee
same deal for combat bonus on deserts
thanks!
another question, what are the modifiers that affect population growth percent, i am playing france and they have a special city building called a theatre that gives a public order bonus due to happyness, does this affect the "buildings of fun, entertainment culture and maitenance of good order" trait? (is it 0.5% per 5% like with health?
also, i am getting "its too late to join the crusade" why is that?
If I'm not mistaken, spear units have a combat penalty against sword units. So, to take on enemy infantry you may be better off using light men at arms. Also, they're light infantry so they're more of a flanking infantry, than a hold the line infantry.
Not too sure about the percentage but, theatre's and other building that give public order bonuses from happiness do increase the "buildings of fun, entertainment, culture, and maintenance" percentage. Administrative buildings and the like increase the percentage of law.
You didn't join the crusade within the allowed turn limit. I believe it's 11? It was 9 in vanilla M2TW.
Clearly has his priorities straight.
You have ten turns to join a crusade once it is called. After that, no more units may join, this is to keep crusades/jihads from lasting for eternity until the target is taken.
I'm a noob too. So how do you get rid of corruption?
You can't get rid of corruption all-together, but you can counter it. The main way is to construct buildings that offer +law, aswell as having a general in town, with good traits.
It can also help to move your capital to the center of your faction, since Distance to Capital is also a large facter to corruption.
grr, whats the point of the "good morale" trait, if my cavalry rout after taking 5 losses when sallying out of a castle to attack archers?
did they route because they got too close to the "row" that the ai puts behind their ram?
It could be a simple matter of your one unit of cavalry facing an entire army, not just the target they are engaging; think of it in terms of them being surrounded or flanked. When two armies face each other in the field and a unit gets flanked or is surrounded, they can easily break and flee. Now consider a single unit in the same position: their morale will take a big hit if sent to fight a much larger force all by themselves.
hi all,my noob question is.........what is the difference between early and late campaigns, does early just last longer and is still possible to recruit all faction units including gun powder units.or do i need to start a late campaign to get handgunners and cannons, thanks
The late campaign just starts later, in the 1200s.
Late campaign changes starting regions a bit for some factions and how developed the initial cities are and how strong the early armies and rebels are. Basically gives you a bit faster start if you don't like the 25 turns of building up on early campaign to get any decent roster units. Of course it is between 50-100 turns less long than is possible with early campaign and no faction starts off as strong as if you had actually played even 50 turns already but you get access to new units a bit faster and some factions are more or less well developed so it depends where you are playing and what you want to face. Generally I prefer late campaign as things get interesting in fewer turns though it can increase or decrease difficulty in large ways for a few factions. Byzantines and Cumans probably the most noticeably more difficult late campaign starts due Byz has Constantinople rebel and Mongols coming almost right away against the Cumans.
thanks guys for your helpful answers, and could any1 tell me if byzantines can hire cannons as mercs as they cannot recruit them.
There are a few cannons available as mercs but not anywhere near the Byz starting territory if I recall correctly. You'll have to send some recruiting officers quite far and possibly upset relation if you don't have military access. Also the cannon mercs usually are available quite late compared to developing the buildings yourself.
