How x country got screwed
I will post my own so you'll understand what this thread is about, then post your own/discuss.
How Norway got screwed (if i am wrong about anything please let me know):
The first time Norway got screwed was when the King Olav the saint was so disliked by pretty much everyone in Norway, that caused the Norwegian jarls to give away Norway to the Danish king without a fight. It's alright though, because a similar thing happened to the Danes when they elected the Norwegian king (Olav's son) as the king of Denmark.
The second was when King Harald Haråda was suprised by the English army. When the English attacked Harald's army was split in two and almost all the soldiers were unarmored!! This was the great warrior-king with his elite soldiers who were to conquer England, but everything got screwed because he was so "unlucky" (and not a big fan of scouting, i guess). Norway never got a fair chance at taking England
The third time was when the only heir of the late Norwegian king was swedish (It's not cool to have someone of another nationality then yours as king IMO)
The fourth and the worst thing in norwegian history imo was when the Danish elected the norwegian king's son as their king.
Why is that bad?
Because when the norwegian king died his son became king of Norway as well
But that's good for Norway, a norwegian king of Norway and Denmark...
No, because his son grew up in Denmark and considered himself danish and when he got Norway it was treated as the minor kingdom of the two.
Norway was stuck in that posision until (and here comes the fifth time Norway got screwed) it was given to Sweden without Iceland, Greenland, Norway's islands in the British Isles AND Jemtland, Herjedalen and Båhuslen (large parts of Norway, this is why northern norway is only a thin line against the ocean on the modern map)
At least we have oil and can say that Denmark and Sweden never conqueredus
. Now please post more countries...
