    Actually, haven't gave you enough credit +Rep, i will give it a try and check the other versions of your mod if i can find what i'm looking (described above) or at least close to it. I did found the effects name in landbattle.xml and now i know what to look for and change thanks to you, so i'll have your reply in mind if i feel like editing, thanks.

    Turning all my graphics settings all the way up for once, I've noticed that after the initial volleys, when infantry are already engaged and such, many times no smoke comes out of their muskets after firing. Is this a thing with the mod or is something wrong with my graphics/game?

    Another concern, not sure if this is a problem with the mod or something;


    I've only tested this on the Whiff of Sulfur for Empire Total War, but I've noticed that the smoke quickly fades away, going from puffy to nothing in about 40 seconds or so, especially if the unit of infantry/artillery stops firing for a sustained period of time. Some times, the smoke lingers over the time, but then just starts disappearing, with blocks of it disappearing each second.


    Is this how the mod is supposed to be? Is this how it is in reality? Is this a problem or am I just being paranoid?

    I'm also wondering how did you get the canons to smoke? what did you edit . love that effect the most

    I altered an existing effect and attached it to the cannon firing effect group. I believe I took the smoking craters effect, changed the wind, gravity and size. Adjusted the height and delayed its starting just enough so the cannon could fire and roll back into position before the effect started.

    This is the conversation I've been looking for. I've posted a few times in other threads and no responses.

    What should I adjust and where, to increase the initial smoke from naval cannons and increase overall thickness and duration?

    Also I'm wondering how to change the muzzle flash and sound of muskets in WoS White to recreate that which is in ETW TAR (don't know if you're familiar but it is really good).

    Or at least what and where should I adjust to experiment myself? Thanks for any advice!

    Btw +Rep for making this mod, I've been using it for awhile. Shame so many people want to use the lighter versions, they're missing some great atmosphere!

    You are looking for an effect called 'flash_dir_tiny' You then look for entries that adjust scale_range_metres. It follows the format (x,y), variance (xx,yy). x and y are length and width. Some effects use x for both length and width. xx and yy are amounts that are randomly added to x and y. There are at least three scale_range_meter entries. I am unsure about the first, but primary seems to be the size at the start of the effect and secondary at the end of the effect. The time they spend at the different sizes is governed by scale_life_unary_range, but I have never been able to get a good "snap from small to big" effect like a real musket's smoke.

    If you want the effect to gradually fade, adjust the variables in FADE_INFO line.
    If you want a different number of particles, adjust num_particles_per_point
    If you want the particles to come out faster or stop sooner, adjust velocity_range (x,xx) and dampening_range (x,xx) x and xx are the same as above. dampening_range seems to be capped at 1, with lower numbers letting the particles fly further before stopping.
    If you want to make the particles fainter, adjust thickness.

    Expect a lot of trial and error.

    Can this mod to be played on "multiplayer" games in the vanilla program?
    Is it possible only save it in the data folder and play the game?
    If the mod run only for solo games, it loss more of his possibility to play very beautiful multiplayer battles!

    I actually forget. All the mods I have made for over a year have been of the "add to the data folder and play variety" Something tells me this one wasn't though, so you probably have to adjust the user script. As it is, you will know if it is working after the first volley of line infantry...the smoke will be much heavier and last longer then in vanilla.

    Any plans for empire total war? I mean will you be planning on making one? I accidentally saw this mod and I'm glad I did.
