My top 5,
1. Destruction/Near destruction of major factions early on in the game - Examples might include Austria getting wiped out by a combined Prussian and Polish attack, France being taken over by the United Provinces or the Swedish wiping out Denmark, Norway, Hannover, Muscovy...
2. All countries out to destroy one another - It would be nice if the countries were relatively peaceful and not all hungry for land. It's usually the Holy Roman Empire that has all it's kingdoms suddenly turn on each other.
3. Rip-your-hair-out power of the Pirates - The sheer horror when you realise you are at the mercy of the pirates. Your ships of the line flee uncontrollably at the sight of the Jolly Rodger over the horizon, flying above a fleet of some 12 galleons. You cannot fight the pirates, if you do your ships surrender and they join the pirates. You cannot run from the pirates, you click the retreat button but no, your ships don't retreat into the wide ocean. Instead they retreat to some pathetic pocket of water and you watch with horror as the pirate fleet, slowly moves in for its second kill and all you can do is watch your beautiful fleet of indianmen which took you 12 turns to make, disappear off your computer screen. You can't even hide from the pirates, you lay anchor in the ocean 'surely the fog of war will hide me from their hungry eyes' but.. The pirates are immune to the fog of war and so you wait, sweat running down your face as the other factions take their turns and the sight of the pirate flag appears. Yes, it's the pirates turn now, it's the pirates turn toup your trade.
4. Unorganised UI listing - When your infantry, cavalry and artillery are all mixed up in the UI and not only that the regiment numbers are mixed up also. Your 5th Regiment of foot is followed by the 8th then 6th and then 7th.
5. Army of cannons - Countries such as the united provinces and Denmark seem to invest their time in the construction of cannons, but there is a reason why. It's the same with all countries such as these which have a large income from their trade, just one blockade will see the end to all trade and so their army is cut back. Then in some frantic AI logic they steadily construct a whole host of sakers, demi cannons and 24 lbers.
No need to put such detailed descriptions as me![]()
