Default PASSED[Artifex] -TopCat- (patron : Raglan von Döbeln)

    Patron:Raglan
Raglan Good morning, today i would like to present before you a man by the name of -TopCat-. He reacently raised the question about citizenship in the Q&S thread, and after having a little search he seemed to be more than suitiable. His manner is more than pleasent and he is one of the new generation of modders. For all of this i judged him worthy of patronisation. Thank you for your time.
    Raglan

    Client: -TopCat-
-TopCat- Dear members of the Curia,
I would like to apply for the badge of Artifex, based on my modding contributions to TWC.

I joined TWC just under a year ago, and can proudly say that my first post was to release a small mod. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that at the time that unit was unlocked in virtually every major mod that existed, but we all start somewhere

Since then I have tried my best to keep releasing mods and assisting the community in general. I released my MiniMod collection for Empire Total War, which won the "Favourite Miniature Mod" category at the 2009 modding awards.

After that, I led the project Continents in Conflict: 1809. This mod only reached the Beta stage and has since been scrapped (it was due to continue, but the team member that was going to continue it hasn't been seen since the release of Napoleon: TW.). Even though it only reached the Beta stage, I still think it was necessary to mention this as it highlights some of my skills which I haven't put to use in Napoleon: TW. As well as leading the project I learned many new skills for it. Before beginning, I couldn't make new models but during the course of the mod's development I learned modeling, eventually going on to design the French Faction which had a wide selection of new models.

After the release of Napoleon: Total War I began making a new mod called Europe In Conflict. I am officially the mod leader but it's only really a two-man mod team, with contributions from many members of the community. This mod has recently made it's v1.0 release a features a wide selection of interesting new features. Here is a small selection of them:
    • It is one of, if not the first mod for Napoleon to introduce a new building chain. I have designed a new building that allows players to reduce/increase the amount of money that they spend on troop quality, in relation to the amount of live rounds of ammunition spent on training.
    • We have overhauled sieges, making them more challenging yet much more fun to play.
    • I have made over 50 new technologies - probably the most added by any mod for Napoleon TW to date.
    • We have introduced what we believe to be the most comprehensive AOR system for Napoleon TW to date.
    • We have completely overhauled battle mechanics - land and naval.

While making this mod I have done most of the coding, all of the scripting (it's not much though), all of the technology 2-d art and around half of the writing for it.

I've also tried to help the community out where possible.
While making my mod I have made any information that I found (be it relevant or trivial) public. This includes all of our faction research, a small breakthrough we made, a real life photo of the Duke of Wellington and a small tutorial on unit card making.

If I were to be granted the badge of Artifex I would put it to good use. I have closely followed the goings-on in the Curia over the last few months and feel that I could have contributed in many of the recent amendments made, and even those on going as this is read.

Thanks for taking the time to read my application,
    -TopCat-

I have no choice but to vote no.

He's asking for the badge of Artifex and it is not within my power or the remit of the CdeC to give it to him....

ahh... if only he'd asked for citizenship instead!

Shouldn't patrons be pointing out such obvious errors before submitting an application? lol

If you do this and vote no, dont be surprised if someone runs up to you and whacks you with a fish while your in Malta.
Well, if I, Belisarius, the Black Prince, and you all agree on something, I really don't think there can be any further discussion.

The mod and the amount of work he has put into it look quite impressive. Waiting for one of the modders to comment

He thinks that finding a photo of Old Welly is a contribution to the TWC? I have books filled with photos and paintings of him, what is he on about?

Anyways, my man likes this here mod and says that it is solid. I've yet to pick it apart completely (I'm still a bit biased to the real NTW after all, heehee) but I do like what I see.

He clearly lists Europe in Conflict to be his biggest contribution, but still I can't see a link to the mod?

He does link it, but it is hidden inside an odd paragraph in the words a small breakthrough we made. Here's the link to the OP: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=346258

Thanks. The mod seems great in theory, I shall see about testing it and looking further to Topcat's contribution.

TopCat also has similar text in his signature. I think it's just not understanding the process of patronage as only being confirmed after a vote passes, rather than being presumptive. Though preliminary consideration of his application suggests he has reason to be confident, so long as it doesn't get to his head.

What if we were to deny TopCat Citizenship? It puts a bit of pressure on us to pass him. That is all.
