Unlimited men on the battlefield for M2TW Gold

How can this be done, tried looking in preferences but only this shows up

in your medieval2.preference.cfg in the C;/progrmafiles/sega/Medieval 2 folder? (not in your account, I guess you have vista here).

It should be in the [game] section, second line from the bottom

Start the game, go into options, video, change a SINGLE option, apply, exit game.

Do the same for all other categories.

The preferences file should now be filled with all sorts of options.

Vista? Could be why it doesn't work.

Try turning off UAC.

After turning UAC off, try changing a few settings again.

Oh, and you should make sure your medieval2.preference.cfg file is not read-only. To do this, right-click the medieval2.preference.cfg, and select properties. On the bottom of the General tab, you should see the option. Make sure it's unchecked.

If it STILL doesn't work, try starting a campaign, fighting a battle in said campaign, and open the medieval2.preference.cfg once more.

EDIT: WHAT? There's a medieval2.preference.cfg in my user account folder too?

Hey guys,
I followed your directions and I got there, but I don't understand what I need to do now in order to have unlimited men on the battlefield, I am in the prefrence text where it says: unlimited_men_on_battlefield = 1 now what???
Also like I use to do with Rome total war, I like to increase the number of men in each unit to like 240 a unit so I did it here in M2TW with export_descr_unit text but nothing changed in the game, your help is greatly eppreciated

As I said earlier, there are 2 medieval2.preference.cfg files, one in your user account and one in the C;/program files/sega/Medieval 2 total war folder (or where ever you installed it). You need to go in the second one.
