Priest units: conversion?

Rookie question. Do WRE priest units add conversion factors to the province they are in?

Playing my first BI game as wre. I got it pretty much won. You don't HAVE to pick one religion on the first turn, but I'd like to try and convert Gaul, Hispania, and Britannia to Christianity before I finish. So are big churches in Christain provinces and generals with good traits and ashes of martyrs the only way to go?

I think their only purpose is to give a small morale boost on the battlefield, i`ve never noticed them to add any conversion bonus to provinces.

I didn't see a change in the conversion rate when I looked at it, so I don't think they do.
