    Default Latin question

I figured here was a good place...

What's the difference between these two sentences?

Tu fui, ego eris - What you are, I was. What I am, you will be. (This is found on graves and burial sites)

Quad sumus hoc eritis - Such as we are, you will be.

Are they both correct? thanks <3

Well, both should be correct; Even though the second sentence should read Quod sumus hoc eritis.

    Tu fui, ego eris
Fui: Indicativum Perfectum 3d p sing.: rough translation in text: I was
Eris: Indicativum futurum simplex, 2nd p sing: you (sg) will be

    Quad sumus hoc eritis
Sumus: Indicativum Praesens 1st p Pl.: we are
eritis: Indicativum Futurum simplex 2nd p Pl: you (pl) will be

There's a slight difference, but they generally mean the same

    oh, and Quad quod

Cheers! The latter was in Kingdom of Heaven and the first was on some website I found.

It's "i was you; you will be me"

Yes- Though, it`s valid to expand the original meaning. (To make it more understandable, for example.)
