    Default New Computer! :D

A few minutes ago my dad surprised me with his backup computer (he trades stocks)! This thing beats the heck out of my old Pentium 4 machine.

While its not top of the line in any regards, it is still nice for me.

    Intel Core 2 CPU 6300 @1.86 1.86
    3.25gb of ram
ATI Radeon HD 5700 1gb of memory

It also has 2 hard-drives that my dad said are hooked up on RAID and super fast, one has only the operating system, the other for all my stuff. Apparently this improves performance? I can't wait to try ETW on this

Not sure all I know is that it is 1gb memory, and is a 5700 series card. I got my specs from Can I Run It which is a website that shows how well you can run games.

After you download it, open it up and click on the "graphics" tab.

I can run Empire on all Ultra , and Team Fortress 2 never looked so good with maxed out graphics . The only issue I am having is that my mouse in team fort and Empire like goes away on the menus or keeps flickering and tracking weird, anyone know how to fix it?

What does your dad mean with super fast hard drive?

If its not SSD its not superfast. (sounds like it is if other one only has operating system.) However it doesn't really add to your gaming performance.

Also, 3.25gb ram. You're running a 32bit OS with 4gb of RAM. Get 64 bit if possible.

I think people are underestimating this computer because of my processor, I just ran Bioshock 2 at max graphics, max resolution, seamless no lag super high fps rate . Empire runs at max res and ultra graphics seemless as well. This baby is a BEAST!

Even with a 5770 that isn't a very good computer. I used to have a 1.8Ghz. dual core, sucked for gaming and was slow at everything else. Considering the CPU's age the RAM you have is likely not particularly great, same with the HDD's if they are as old as the CPU.

Dual cores are nice in gaming price/power wise. But thats an average build, not a beast.

My e8400 served me flawlessly for 2 years.
