Default Problem Playing the Great War Mod

Hey, I have a problem playing the Great War mod. I got redirected here because the co-creator couldn't solve it.
    Here are the specifics:

The time setting is on normal.
Graphics are a bit lower than I usually play on.
My FPS (From FRAPS) is on 35-40 at all times.
I can move my mouse and camera around at normal speeds.
I don't have any form of error.
Yet the units just move slowly.

So guys, what is going on and how the heck do I fix it? I really want to play this!

Slowly? How slow? Power point slow or to the point where you can count the frames? If your getting 30 fps then it sounds to me that's how the units are meant to move. Also if you can't replicate this issue with the vanilla game then it's a mod specific 'problem' but you should check to see if they have made any alterations to unit movement speed (if that's possible).

Try playing a custom battle with just one unit per side, do you still get the same issue? Try different factions, different units. There's lots of different permeations you need to try to eliminate all the variables but once you have eliminated all the probabilities all that remains no matter how improbable must be true.

I've checked, no changes to the unit speed. The vanilla game works perfectly.

Sounds like something has become corrupted. Next stage is back up your saved games, uninstall the mod, uninstall the game, delete the folder from programme directory and the settings folder in My Documents (if one exists) and reinstall the game from fresh. Also double check what patch you need the vanilla game patched to before reinstalling the mod.

I just tried the second suggestion. The game works fine with one unit on each side.

Then keep increasing the number of units 1-1 works fine, next try 2-2, 3-3 etc, etc until you find how many units your system can cope with unit you get the slow down.

I find in Total War games the engine struggles in certain scenarios such as siege, bridge and anywhere where there's a bottleneck and lots of animation and AI taking place.

BTW what are you system sepcs?

You have a good video card but your CPU is pretty rubbish I'm afraid and explains why you get slow down in your game battles and why everything was fine when you played a custom 1v1 battle. I suggest you change the unit sizes down to small/medium, by having fewer men on the field of battle your freeing you CPU resources as it has less AI, wire frame, and path-finding calculations to do.

I'll try that. If it doesn't work, back to vanilla, sigh.

Alright, turns out my CPU is rubbish. I can't run it at normal speeds even on medium unit size. I'm going back to vanilla . Thanks for the help anyway.
