    Default Hosting recommendations

My wife needs a web host and a good company from which to purchase a domain name. Any recommendations?

At my previous employers we would do our own hosting but we purchased our domains from these guys - Fasthost.co.uk

Did you like working with them? Also, can they sell .com domains, or just .co.uk?

I use HostMonster. It's fairly good. It's quite cheap, you can have unlimited email accounts and 8 can have spam filters.

is great, and will also register a domain in your name for free; so you can use it with another hosting company.

Beware of the bigger or more popular hosts, they tend to oversell. Also do not believe results for "best web hosting" on google search.

Go to www.webhostingtalk.com and ask the community there. They can give you some pretty good advice.

My synagogue uses 1&1, and it's serviceable, I guess. Very cheap, too. Just make sure it's someplace where you can get your data out if you want to move elsewhere.
