    Default Settlement unrest

Hey just a quick question: I notice that settlements randomly gain alot of unrest even if there are no armies/rebels in the area: is this normal? Is this because I don't build the max rank of the auxilia buildings when I've captured a province?

Also, if you dont want the local troops/barracks is there any point getting any auxilia building higher than lvl1? I havent noticed it affecting happiness above lvl1 and, very rarely, trade so if there are no good local troops I dont usually bother with lvl2 and above: am I mistaken?

Thanks for any and all helpful replies!

higher population creates higher squalor rates that creates unrest.

and what faction are you playing? if playing the Romans, role-playing-wise you should still build the Aux buildings, if not for the roleplaying, to keep your treasury low (after 50k, you character in charge of settlements tend to get ApicianRomanVice traits, even if they are managing settlements at normal or high rates, which is recommended.)

that too, oh and here's a tip.. send your spies to one of your peripheral neighbors recently conquered lands... it'll keep the AI busy and hopefully think twice from starting a war with you
