I've tried searching the whole internet (including technical section of TWC) but i just can't find a solution to 'noresponse from host'. Cannot join. It drives me mad in 90% of games i try to connect to and means i can't really play mp.

Does anyone know anything about it?

    thanks

    Try the following Skouser:
    1. Check your internet connectivity.
    2. Disable ALL anti-virus and firewall software.
    3. Disable and/or delete ALL mods that you may have installed for Napoleon Total War.
    4. Change your Steam download zone (for some reason, several people have reported that this helped).
5 Do a complete re-install of the game software.

If none of these techniques work, you still have a couple of options. One would be to break the Napoleon Total War game disc into several hundred pieces and put it back into the original game box. Then take a in the box, re-seal it, and ship it back to Creative Assembly. This of course will not make the game work any better, but it will make you feel better about throwing away $40 USD-$80 USD.

Another option would be to either drink enough alcohol or smoke enough weed to think that you are playing Napoleon Total War Online when in actuality, you are surfing internet porn sites involving animals performing disgusting acts with vegetables.

probably a firewall issue - the host's pc communication is being blocked to yours - try relaxing some router settings and use your pc to protect you from threats.

or try to get hold of an older gateway / router - some of the newer protocol does nt seem to like steam

well i had the same problem when i changed to a new router after my old one died - i got so pissed off

i tried everything but after i read and tested what i could i then cam accross this one

    http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic/68926/t/connect--host--tell---ports--forward.html?page=4

the bit about IPv4 and the new router not been backwwards compatable and was using IPv6.

i then hunted around and got a good router that was a bit older

i have to say im not sure but i dont have any problems in joining games now

I'd say it's time to try one of the two options listed at the bottom of my first post in this thread, Skouser.

It might be an issue with your router if you are using one. Try disconnecting it and see if that helps.

Set up a static IP on your computer, open ports 25000-25050 and 4380, and enable DMZ on your router.

I had this same problem and doing these three things fixed it.

i had my doubts, but you are a semi-genius .semi only because i can join 50% of games now as opposed to 25% before.the static i.p. is what made the difference.the rest i had anyway

All computers (using a router enables you to have multiple computers with the same I.P. address) have an I.P. (internet protocol) address which identifies that particular network interface (computer) and assigns an address to the interface location, ottomanfan. Under normal circumstances, your computer's operating system will automatically detect the I.P. address in accordance with what your internet service provider has assigned to your account (modem), however on occasion it is neccessary to do it manually. Usually this is a "sticky" dynamic I.P. address and will normally remain the same, as long as the address lease doesn't expire. When a computer is configured to use the same I.P. address each time it powers up, it is known as a static I.P. address. In situations where the computer's I.P. address is assigned automatically, it is known as a dynamic I.P. address.

usually ip addresses are dynamic and change as users connect and disconnect.the router does it automatically. static ip just means that you tell the router you want just *that* address and that only.

hehe, i have exactly the same router as you (this is also called o2 wireless box II).if you are on o2, then just make sure you know the username and password to your router, then click the following link:
    http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/publicip/...SIGN_PUBL_ADDR
this should do the trick, but it doesnt fix anything for me
make sure your router ip address is the same as above
    tell me how it goes...
....though it wont help the no response from host issue
on my ps3, in the cod6 lobby it says my nat type is "open", and all my ports on the router are opened up, as i checked.i think it is a bug in the coding of napoleon and empire, or a code has been programmed incorrectly. you will notice that certain players you can always connect to, and others you cannot.
good luck, and i hope this helps

P.S:This link will work no matter whether you are on o2 or not, just make sure your i.p as above is the same as your "ipv4 default gateway" address.if you need to know how to find this out, go to wireless connection status, and then details, and it is listed there.
the default user name for the router is "Administrator" and the default password is blank. unless you changed it...
