Question about Silk Road

I am currently playing as Armenian faction but as I saw in the game, the Eastern factions are not able to build Silk Road. This also make them unable to build High Way which increase trading a lot. Is there any way to unblock the Silk Road and High Way construction for eastern factions? I thought this is some kind of unfair for them, the Hellenic factions seems to have every good stuff: high way, better infantry, better general, etc.........

And I still have one more question about the Boiling Oil of Stone Wall. In Barbarian Invasion, Reinforced Gate with boiling oil is deadly against the horse based factions like the Hun or Vandal. But why it does not seem to work at all in XGM?

I think only the romans can build Highways.

Played GSE several times and only paved roads are available, unless you capture Antioch in which you can build highways.

As for boiling oil, last i checked it worked, but seriously, the ballistas from reinforced wall should be enough

, they're damn powerfull!

It's weird, my boiling oil does not work, i think we should make every faction have paved road, this will provide more balance.

I think only certain regions can build the Silk Road.
And i think you need reinforced stone walls for the boiling oil.

Yeah, most of the provinces east of Asia Minor get the Silk Road, with some exceptions. I think.

only provinces that the historical silk road passed through can build it
and its the silk road that unlocks the highway

Indeed. Only certain regions can built a silk road and after that the highways. However, the Romans can built highways everywhere.

An boiling oil is already present when you have normal stone walls. Only when the enemy has conquered the gateway it won't be used. You have to be in charge of the gateway to be able to use the boiling oil.

(AI) Selucids with elephants vs stone walled city = lots of fried crispy elephants is fun to watch but after the 30th elephant dying in the gateway its kinda boring....but the garrison eats well after the siege

Um, guys, how can you get boiling oil if it was disabled as of version 5.8-something?

Was it disabled for Reinforced stone walls?
I'll check the descr_walls, but, then again...

EDIT: Apparently oil over gates IS disabled.

I can understand that it would make Reinforced stone walls OP, but it would be
good for 3rd tier walls, I guess.
