    Default steam bans?

hi guys. i was just in a game on cod6 and i was doing realy well. anyways i see a guy on the other side of a wall on my uav and straffe the wall. it takes a whole clip to get him and then he says he reported me for hacking. ive never hacked any game and tbh wouldnt even know where to start if i did want to. as of yet nothing has happened but a similar thing has happened before. i was just wondering what happens. is there a way you can prove to steam you are not hacking to lift the ban? is it a life long ban? game ban or steam ban? i have spent good money on steam games over the years and would be really pissed if i lost them all just because of one guy who cant take loosing.

No one can report anyone for hacking at worst you get added to some private server ban list, the only way anyone gets banned is if you are caught directly by valves VAC system. If your inocent just ignore the children, if your not shame on you

really? that puts my mind at rest because ive just been reading all the threads about how bans are never listed. i dont know where hacks are stored but i just did the validate thing and it came back saying all files are ok and i screenshoted it with time and date. is that worth keeping just in case? also arent al the servers in cod 6 hosted by the players? therefore unless im lucky enough to be in the same game as him again it wont affect me?

Im pretty sure there is some kind of report feature in steam, but it seems very unlikely that they will take action in a case of his word against yours. So im pretty sure most if not all reports will just be ignored.

As far as I know if you arent caught by the valve anti-cheat thing then they need some other kind of evidence, like a replay file or the fact that you have impossible stats (in games where stats are tracked) for any kind of action to be taken - and even then you might just get a warning or something, who knows.

Either way one random guy isnt going to be able to get you banned without evidence to support his claim.

ok cool. well there is definatly no way i triggered a real anit cheat thing. and i did have good stats but definatly not impossible. it just seems like if pricks can go round reporting people with no edvidence eventuraly everyone that gets a lucky shot will be reported.

Just think of it as an unintended compliment, you're so good that he thinks you have an impossible level of skill.

If you weren't actually cheating then you cannot be caught cheating, so don't worry about it.

vac = permanent. that means you have been caught cheating for at least 2+ months. valve doesn't inform the cheaters I love it.

if you get banned from your favorite server cause of a guy like that would suck I was banned from a CSS server that I have played at for 2.5 years on and off. and the guys were the 2 admins I have known forever. I still have the same steam ID since I got HL2 + css on game release, that says alot about my innocence. I have not touch css for a few years now though.

newer fps games just doesn't have this feeling from playing css.

That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

I have the same problem but with Project Reality, nothing compares to it, or even comes close.

I played CS for years and years, since beta 0.3 or something, through to source. But after playing PR, there's no way I could stand playing CSS again.
