    Default Loyalist Revolt???

I don't know what just happened. I was playing as the Cumans and suddenly Astrakhan came under my possesion, filled with spear militia and mercenary cavalry of course, and a notice called 'Loyalist revolt' popped up (I accidentally deleted it before I could read it though). Also, for some reason I'm at war with the Seljuks. There was a Kawrezmian diplomat nearby too, I'm thinking he had something to do with it.

    What the heck just happened?

It was the strangest thing, I didn't even have troops anywhere near that settlement then *poof* new settlement, new enemy. Maybe a turkish diplomat tried to bribe them and it backfired? I've never had bribery work ever before so I have no idea.

Nope, 6.1 with Battle for the Baltic submod.

And to the poster above me, it was a rebel settlement, no one owned it.

Well I know that if the settlement is unhappy enough they will revolt and the settlement will be given to the original owner.

^ Yes, and also you are automatically put at war with the faction from which the settlement has revolted.

I guess the reasoning is that the original 'owners' will want to reclaim the territory and it feels like you have taken the settlement from them, which of course you haven't because of anything other than being you.

It's no bug, not unusual (well, not unheard of) and present in Vanilla (RTW too).

Edit: Are you sure it was Rebel? Other faction may have taken it without your knowledge without spies/watchtowers looking at border/city itself.

Every settlement has a faction that is considered it's "creator". There is a chance that during the course of the game, the settlement will have a loyalist revolt and the creator faction gains the settlement. A state of war will be declared between the old and new owners.

The settlements rebels against its former masters and declares for someone, or for themselves as rebels. The settlement declared for you and wants you to rule them.

Are you sure it was rebel settlement? The world changes all the time and the mini map does not always tell the truth if you have fog of war enabled. You could have first seen it as a rebel settlement but then Turks conquered it without you noticing it. But they couldn't hold it so the settlement rebelled to your nation.

Maybe it was conquered by the turks, but even so why would it become my settlement? I wasn't the original owner, I hadn't taken Astrakhan yet.

I believe settlements even ones you have never own have default owners. These defaults are usually not the rebels so it make sense it go to you

To quote my own post from above:

Nah, Rebels can rebel and declare for you. Once I lost a settlement all of a sudden on one turn, cause my king and then the governor both died on the same turn. The people got unhappy and went to rebels. I hit end turn again, next time they rebel back to me. They probably see that my rule is much better and easier for them then being independent brigands lol.

wierd, never happened to me.... sounds quite fun..

any way to increase the chance of this happening? then i could abuse of the AI and sell them a settlement from a different religion xD

I've had it happen. Not sure if it has much to do with religion as much as the "native" settlements each faction has. For instance as Genoa once I lost Genoa in a siege on turn 7 from an HRE army that came over the mountains early and then next turn it revolted back to me with free units etc just like you see many cities revolt back to the AI. Never seen a rebel city revolt to me but I've seen them revolt to other factions.

I had a similar experience. I was trying out the Fatimid Empire, and around the 20th turn, one of the towns in the Arabic peninsula, I think it was the Sharja, had the loyalist revolt and became mine. Fortunately, it was a rebel town, so I wasn't in any unwanted war at that time

Sadly, I had no armies nor any generals near that area and there wasn't a lot of troops in that town, so after two turns the town rebelled.
