Loss of keyboard and mouse control during game play

Everyonce in a while, the game just losses all keyboard and mouse control. Its random but usually happens during a battle when you have the game set to 2x or 3x speed, and the screen either just spins around or pans across the entire battlefield in any random direction. The only fix is to shutdown the game and restart as it then seems to infect the enitre game. Is this a known issue and if so how do ya fix it ?

I actually get this same problem in Darkest hour, though never in RTW. But I have another friend who gets the problem in Garrys mod, another says he gets it in Medieval 1 and Empire.

Maybe your PC just chose a game it doesn't like?

Do you have a USB keyboard and USB mouse? If so, then the issue is likely with the hardware itself. There are cases when USB peripherals are unable to draw enough power from the hub to keep itself operational and therefore shut down temporarily before restarting again. An easy way to test for this is to play the game with no sound and listen for the sound windows makes whenever you plug/unplug a USB device.

I've had this happen to my USB mouse before, replaced it and everything was back to normal.

I've had this happen a few times as well, even going as far as replacing my keyboard mid battle but nothing helped. It was always the forward or one of the sideward keys playing 'stuck'. It always happened after a long time of playing leading me to believe (eventually) it was a hardware, specificly a heating issue within my pc. I replaced two eco fans with one's that had some more RPM and haven't had issues since. Might be sheer luck though =)

I actually have that sometimes too. Last time was yesterday. The screen is automaticaly going to one side. I have an easy fix for that though. Just alt-tab out of your game en then back in. At least that fixes it for me. But be careful. If you are not playing in windowed mode, the game might freeze is you alt-tab out. At least it did on my computer.
