    Default [Decision] Two-Part Badge Change

    Supporters: Legio, Magpie, Prisca

The Curia resolves that the current badges shall be replaced by a new set of badges, to be decided by a secondary Curial vote upon passage of this Decision. The vote shall consist of the top two (set 3 and 4) of these sets from the previous Curial vote, and Guy's badges. The set with the most votes will replace the current badges.

I owe the idea to this to Raglan; the only way to make this change actually happen is to do it in the reverse order from what we tried before. First we decide that we need to change the badges, then we decide what we change them to; this way, people who didn't vote for the winning badge set won't just vote against the Decision and thus filibuster the bill.

i expect my fee promptely paid by sunday.

yep, i think this is the only way its going to work. But i will implore everyone to think if they want a change or not, and not judge that by badge sets they have already seen.

If this doesn't pass I will eat someone's head, for serious, it's time for change. This is change I can believe in. I don't want to be short-changed any longer. Change da badge!

I have edited what the choices on the poll will be (judging from the original results no one liked the first two, plus I really like Guy's). Re-support needed.

    Oppose, politely.

I think it will be better if there is a badge set brought forward first. Beli worked hard on getting the Forum Magnum started for just these types of projects. Form an interest group, resurrect the previous work, beg, and swindle as needed to to produce the best alternative to the current badges. Then and only then -- bring it forward for the Curia to accept with a single up or down vote.

We already had a single up or down vote which was bogged down by everyone who voted for a different set in the preliminary rounds voted no (and the vote was 28-21), so not as much participation as you could hope for).

I am convinced this is the only way the badges will ever get changed, short of Hex just picking a badge set they like and changing it (which I would be in favor of).

Just pick a badge set and put it forward. No competing badge sets to split the vote. I am not a graphics artist, but if I were -- I would prefer a joint effort on a single badge set to a competition where a substantial amount of time and effort goes to waste. With the joint effort, you will not have the split vote.

I think what he's saying is last time a majority did select a badge set to put forward. But since not everyone liked that specific version of the badges, but rather another version of them, they voted No on any form of change.

There's no perfect way of proposing substantive changes. One method would be have a binding multiple choice poll on badge sets, and then a runoff of the top two, where the current set is only one of the selections that wins by majority rather than the result of a lack of plurality on something else.

My badges were made more as alternative set to the current rather than a replacement set, but, thanks to Justy, I'm still quite happy they've been given some consideration.

And in what way are the new badges superior to those we already have?

because the current ones look like crap. i can say that cause i made the base (icons and stuff is ok i guess)

    edit; i support this btw.

edit 2; changed my mind, ill abstain from this one. imo its better to wait for the new game, and design a solid badge set based upon that, and a matching theme.

They look better than any of the presented alternatives.

    Oppose,

I don't see the need to change badges. I have gotten attached to the ones we have right now.

    Oppose.

I'm rather a fan of the current set of badges, but then I do have a penchant for the Napoleonic era.
