Hi I've noticed in the settlement details that trade icons are always flashing as if they disappear but they are always flashing every turn: what does this mean?
Also, I've found that if I buy a trade building like a bigger port or market it shows no difference in trade - the icons keep flashing but no change: is this normal? A good example is Athens: I build bigger ports but there are no changes in the settlement details :/
Also: in a previous game I had tons of ctds and the ai doing weird things (rome buying tons of those 90k mercs) but I assume this is because I failed to exit the game after playing a different campaign? Its been a while and I thought that bug got fixed but guess not

It means you've built something that is going to influence trade. The flashing bit is the increase in income through trade that the settlement will make once it's been completed.

It's normal. The flashing bit is the extra trade that will occur once the building is completed.

See Quinn, the computer really does recruit those revolt units
What kind of CTDs are they? We can't do anything about them unless we know the circumstances. Year, faction, time, prior events and so on.
For instance I was greek attacking a roman city: one of its units was the actual captain (the unit was called captain something) and the icon was the blank flag you see when attacking an army led by a captain. If i tried to assault the city or auto-resolve I had a CTD.

One further question: if theres a city with no port, and then I build it, theres no change in the settlement details (no grey trade icon and no flashing trade icon). Does this mean that I have to build ports/markets and hope it gives me a boost? Because atm when I upgrade ports and markets there arent any addition flashing/greyed trade icons
In the trade summary scroll you'll see the trade icon in a solid colour. This is the amount of trade the settlement is bringing in. When you see a flashing icon, it means you are building something that will generate more trade and the flashing icon represents the increase in trade that the building will give. Once that building has been completed, the flashing icon will become solid and you won't see anymore flashing until you start constructing another building that boosts trade.
Yes but its flashing even when that settlement isnt building anything: does that mean its affected by what my other settlements are building? (assuming no ports are being blocked etc)
Thanks for the answers and sorry if i sound stupid...
