try the madboris workaround, its in the etw tech forums, or actually go and change to the win 7 64 bit, so it will use all your memory.

The other problem could be your drivers, update the gpu drivers, they're from last year

Now you could always try to verify the game cache in steam, see the troubleshoot thread about this.

With Win 7, you have a 32bit disc and a 64bit disc in the retail copy. Put the 64bit one in the dvd-rom, reboot and follow the instructions.

if you don't have the discs, there are 2 options, order one from microsoft, it retails around 10 bucks
