    Default Replacing Units Trouble

    I've gone back to playin' RTW as I often do so d/l RTR but wanted to replace a few units with ones I like the look of more.

    Up to 2day all was ok but I wanted to replace the German Warband with the Illyria Warband (reskined).
    I've got them in game np but ... They don't have weapons (apart from when they throw spears) & war cry is not there but a 'form circle' ability thingie (from BI) is there instead

    Is there an easy way to fix this? I'm not good at modding but will have a go

    Did you replace the skeleton as well in DMB, and if so, what does your DMB look like for this unit? Just trying to brainstorm to know what weapons are assigned to the skeleton, without really knowing what you have done.

    You need to make sure both the unit models themselves and the skeletons those unit models have been assigned in descr_modlel_battle can support the same (two) weapons. If the model (.cas file) has throwing spears and melee spear, then the relevant entry in DMB should have "fs_javelinman, fs_spearman" (or something to that effect) as skeleton entries.

    Open up export_descr_unit.txt, find the entries of those units and remove the "cantabrian_circle" attribute from their attributes line.

    All I've done is delete the original german warband texture & replace it with my own & change the model used from german warband to illyria warband.

    The texture & model show up np but have no weapon & no warcry
    The only text I've edited is the model for german warband.

    The Illyrian Warband model (.cas file) is a melee-only model, and that is mirrored also in its DMB entry which just reads "skeleton fs_fast_spearman". If you have used this .cas for the german warban model as well, then you will have to

    a) change "skeleton fs_fast_javelinman, fs_fast_spearman" to "skeleton fs_fast_javelinman, fs_fast_spearman" in its DMB entry

    b) change the stat_pri, stat_pri_attr, stat_sec and stat_sec_attr lines in the EDU to look like the illyrian warband ones (ie the primary weapon should be melee, and the secondary be blank - just replace those four lines with the ones from the illyrian unit)

    I think delete schiltrom-the form circle thingy...,as removes the option for warcry. Correct me if wrong,but only 1 special ability allowed.

    I believe you are correct Kylan. That's all I've ever been able to give to any unit.
