    Default Hexagon Medal Bill

    Old combined proposal:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
This proposal involves two changes. The first is introducing a medal for service on the Hexagon Council. The second is, for medium-size medals that currently have bronze/silver/gold variants, awarding an extra gold medal periodically as long as the member continues to serve. This way you don't hit a cap on what awards you can get, but it's easy to implement and administer, and there's no new artwork needed.
The following medal is introduced, as the first medium-sized medal:
    Hexagonal Amulet
The Hexagonal Amulet is awarded at the discretion of the Hexagon Council, for service as a member of the modern Hexagon Council or earlier equivalents. The bronze amulet is given for contribution approximating to 3 months of active service, the silver amulet for 6 months, the gold amulet for 12 months. An additional gold amulet is earned for each year of service after the first. Awardees may also be eligible for a Moderator's Mace, Scribe's Quill, or Technician's Screwdriver for concurrent active service in staff branches.

The following changes are made to other medium-sized medals:

    Moderator's Mace
The Moderator's Mace is awarded at the discretion of the Senior Moderators in consultation with members of the administrative council. The bronze mace is given for contribution approximating to 3 months of active service, the silver mace for 6 months, the gold mace for 12 months. An additional gold mace is earned for each year of service after the first.

    Scribe's Quill
The Scribe's Quill is awarded at the discretion of the content manager in consultation with the head of the relevant branch, or if the content manager is under consideration, by the members of the administrative council. The bronze quill is given for contribution approximating to 3 months of active service, the silver quill for 6 months, the gold quill for 12 months. An additional gold quill is earned for each year of service after the first.

    Technician's Screwdriver
The Technician's Screwdriver is awarded at the discretion of the chief technician, or if the chief technician is under consideration, by the members of the administrative council. The bronze screwdriver is given for contribution approximating to 3 months of active service, the silver screwdriver for 6 months, the gold screwdriver for 12 months. An additional gold screwdriver is earned for each year of service after the first.

    Consilium de Civitate Service
The Consilium de Civitate Service Medal is awarded to former members of the Consilium at the discretion of the Curator. The bronze medal is given for two completed terms as a member of the Consilium de Civitate; the silver medal is given for four completed terms; and the gold medal is given for six or more completed terms. An additional gold medal is given for each six terms of service after the first gold medal. The Curator is only eligible if he served the sufficient number of completed terms outside his capacity as Curator. These medals shall be awarded to all those who qualify, past and present.
I restricted the change to medium-sized medals that already have three levels – if people want to add more levels to other medals, that's a separate proposal that needs more work (particularly artistic).

Edit: Since different people object to the two different parts, I've split it into two different bills. This one will deal only with the Hexagonal Amulet. New proposal:
The following medal is introduced, as a medium-sized medal before all the others:
    Hexagon Medal
The Hexagon Medal is awarded at the discretion of the Hexagon Council, for service as a member of the modern Hexagon Council or earlier equivalents. The bronze medal is given for contribution approximating to 3 months of active service, the silver medal for 6 months, the gold medal for 12 months, the emerald medal for 18 months, the ruby medal for 24 months, the amethyst medal for 36 months. Awardees may also be eligible for a Moderator's Mace, Scribe's Quill, or Technician's Screwdriver for concurrent active service in staff branches.

Edit 2: Renamed from Amulet to Pendant.
Edit 3: Updated for the extra medal versions we now have (emerald/ruby/amethyst).
Edit 4: Renamed from Hexagonal Pendant to Hexagon Medal, to leave it vague since no one can come up with a better name.

Will these medals be applied retroactively?

In regards to the Hex medal... I said it here and I will repeat myself.

In regards to the others my only concern is the cluttering of the user panel. I've seen duplicate awards (mainly when I screwed up in adding them ) and it looks kinda messy.

I agree. The Novus award is currently available (and the wording is so horrible) that an admin can win this sucker while in office for a job well done in purely admin work. Or a combo of admin and other staff stuffs.

Service in Hex really needs its own medal.

Sure, just as all the existing medals were applied retroactively. It wouldn't make much sense to not apply them retroactively.

You know perfectly well that no one on Hex is doing it for the shiny medals. Hex cares about medals the least, because it has the most actual power.

Of course I know Hex isn't doing it for the medals. That's exactly my point. You neither desire them or need them so why have them?

Eh it gives ex Hexers like yourself a bit of bling, which kinda lets newbies and people who generally dont participate outside of modding forums know about your past service. Other than that I agree with you, its no big deal.

If all other branches of the site get rewarded for their efforts, why not Hex? Considering they actually run the site, it's quite surprising they don't get some little trinket in return.

Opposed. Some people already look a bit like Field Marshall's marching about with their medals.

I support the ongoing effort to change the colors to reflect continuing service past 1 year (and this type of effort in general), but oppose this 1 medal per year proposal.

And, I'm with Harry on the matter of medals for Hex.

i have no issues with hex getting a medal, but i do with the multiple awards, i think it would look very ugly and cause some rather loud complaints. (we can't forget the blingless now)

i also think that the hex award should be longer than 3/6/12 months. Since this proposal seems to be doing two things at once i will oppose, but as said, with some small amendemts i would happily support the hex part.

Being an Administrator is its own reward imo. I'm not a fan of accruing gold quills or maces.. I prefer the current idea being worked on in the Forum Magnum, new colours and only one medal awarded, no 3 quills or 2 screwdrivers. Would just get very messy.
"Muscovy", as its rulers have previously called it, is a sleeping giant, with age-old traditions and ways of doing things. Here, the feudal way of life has become so entrenched that the serfs are as tied to the land as cattle, and with almost as few rights. It is a vast, deeply conservative and religious country: Mother Russia and the Orthodox Church are the two pillars of national belief. The Tsar may be the father of his people, but by tradition and practice he is a stern parent. Ivan the Terrible was well named, and he has not been the only ruler with an iron will. Russia is the "Third Rome". The last bastion of Orthodox Christianity.

Support. I also support the addition of the new colors method, but I have no qualms with this one as an alternative.

The Hex bit is slightly confusing though. I know Bill was awarded the mace and quill for time as an admin working in moderation and content capacities, which is fine with me. Though it begs the question of whether a member's principal role as defined by their Hex capacity should be counted as separate involvement in that specific site entity. Personally I can't say since I've never served on Hex so I don't know how that operates. I can say that 5 maces, 5 screwdrivers, and 5 amulets would make you look like a Soviet general though.

Well, if I, Belisarius, the Black Prince, and you all agree on something, I really don't think there can be any further discussion.

I think it would be a better idea to propose the Hexagon medal and the extension of the other medals separately. I support, but I find it unlikely it will pass if they're bundled together (and I would prefer more colors to multiple gold medals).

Of course I'm biased as I would get moar bling
