Is it legal or ilegal to download videoclips from Youtube ?
I mean those with music .

Illegal to download them play them and store them. Although if you think about it you are "downloading" it onto your computer every time you play a video....

If you're downloading a song so you don't have to buy it to play it whenever you want then that's piracy.

Personally, I download recordings of live performances (Muse at Wembley ) and then put them on my ipod, but actually watch them and don't use them as a substitute for the actual song. On the topic of piracy, I don't think it is illegal, considering the fact that all you're doing is essentially replaying that already downloaded video that is on your computer.

So, I wouldn't say it is illegal, but at the same time I wouldn't show off the fact that you are (but might not be, i dont know) downloading videos to strip out the audio (which is what itunes does if you put it into your library).

Youtube does not give you any way to permanently download any video or music file from their site.

If it was legal then there would be no reason for anyone to ever buy music (unless they want a high quality copy) as most music can be found on Youtube. Many full length movies can be found as well. Logic says it can't possibly be legal.

My girlfriend's dad is a retired cop (in service for like 15 years I think), he says that as long as it is on youtube you can do whatever you want with it, its up to the video poster to follow the law.

Youtube is the same as any other website. Just because there is something on it doesn't give everyone else in the world the right to use third party applications to download the videos and do whatever they want with them. (personal use only)

And youtube also has the little iTunes link that pops up everytime there's a music video. Any video with music like that that doesn't have it gets removed. I would guess youtube has a deal with iTunes or something with that.

There are ways to prevent a file on a webpage from being downloaded. At the very least, Youtube could sue the site makers that allow you to download the videos.

And anyways, sure you could do that. That would be illegal, if you were using it to get out of buying the music, I agree with you. However I don't think downloading someone's video taping of a concert and using the audio from it would be considered illegal.

Neither do I. I misinterpreted your OP.

The only thing I think would be illegal is downloading copies of music and videos that are otherwise sold.

OK ,brothers, I will not download anything .In big city lotsa shops you get second handed CDs from 2 bucks to 7 . Easy .I also like to read through those leaflets inside . So buying is np .

Uploading is loading a file from your Hard drive onto the Youtube server.
