Ok, how do I know which settlements I need to have the largest city type in order to build the VE Legions. I have Carthage, and have can't remember what it's called, but the largest type city, and Saldae, Lepcis, Lambaesis and Nepte and Thapsus. Problem, can only recruit Velies and Cavalry, doesn't help me much except Carthage, where I can get VE legions.

Anyone help me with this, determining which cities I need to have the largest size.

The only cities where you can recruit numbered legions are the ones with (L) at the end of their names

Ok, knew that about the numbered legions, but need to know what level of city I need in order to recruit the VE Legions, the precusors to the numbered legions.

You need to be able to build Army Barracks, so you need a large city I believe. The city before an Imperial Palace upgrade.

You are nor able to recruit VE Legions after Marian Reforms.

I don't have the reforms as of yet. Not sure when I will bring them in. My three cities are ready, but I'm not.

Then i dont know, maybe you need to upgrade your city level, i am not shore what level need but i think 4 or 5 .
I have question abaut recruitment too, how to retrein Legions? I must send them back to city where they are recruited or there is other way?

You can upgrade any legion in a city that provides armour or morale boosts to what was originally kitted, but you can only replenish the number of men in a cohort to the full size in the city that recruits that legion. Normally this is the originating city but there are a few that can be recruited in more than one city (III Gallica, XV Primagenia I think are two of them for example) and so you could replenish the legion there.

Personally, I merge cohorts and fill out with mercs if I'm in a situation where I need the legion to be present (i.e I won't send a legion to be retrained if I know there are enemy stacks nearby) if it is low in numbers, otherwise I send it to be replenished. At times, when the Legion is very low in numbers and a long way from home, I will disband the existing legion where it is and reform it at it's base.
