Would you recommend that people with good knowledge and skills with geomod, still take a look at the manual as well? Or is this mostly a beginners guide / tutorial summary? I know its still a wip but its seems to be somthing I should look into...

This is a no nonsense manual with a small tutorial (creating a new region) to get the feel of it. Even if you think you have a good knowledge of Geomod I would still recommend to read through it.
So far I have complete the Maps and Regions tab and that has amounted to 21 pages. There are still the Factions, Characters and Campaign tabs to be handled and an error chapter. I dare say you will find something that you didn't know yet.

Make sure the character name exists in the faction list of the descr_names.txt file.

Have a look at my manual, it describes the procedure for the first case (haven't finished the other chapters yet). You might have placed the resources and characters in an invalid postin, used invalid army units....
Your log would be a help (compressed please).

Looks like you tried to add a character\army without defining the unit name. Your entry in descr_strat might look like this (blue being the part the error refers to):

    character Vaasco, named character, male, age 28, x 83, y 88
    traits LoyaltyStarter 1 , NaturalMilitarySkill 2 , ReligionStarter 1
    army
    unit unit_name_missing exp 0 armour 0 weapon_lvl 0

As I suspected, your error is in the ireland section, starting at line 3468 (see below). There are also a few other weird entries. Settlements with about 60 buildings, most of them triple. Factions without settlements. This might have been caused by not verifying changes or maybe simply forgetting to move the old garison (less likely).

My suggestion: get your backup copy and start again. After that change the ownership of the settlement - verify. Move the (now invalid) garison inside the settlement somewhere else - verify. Create a new (valid faction) garison - verify. Save. Follow my suggestion regarding the historic_event file. Try if it works.

    Code:
    character Brian O'Neill, named character, male, leader, age 39, x 9, y 230
    traits Factionleader 1 , MilitaryInclination 1 , NaturalMilitarySkill 1 , GoodCommander 1 , BattleDread 3 , StrategyDread 1 , NightBattleCapable 1 , Intelligent 1 , ReligionStarter 1

Ok, so I saved the Geomod project I'm working on but I don't know where the saved file is..
Under the patronage of Emperor Maximinus Thrax
"Steps to be taken in case Russia should be forced out of war considered. Various movements [of ] troops to and from different fronts necessary to meeting possible contingencies discussed. Conference also weighed political, economic, and moral effect both upon Central and Allied powers under most unfavorable aspect from Allied point of view. General conclusions reached were necessity for adoption of purely defensive attitude on all secondary fronts and withdrawing surplus troops for duty on western front. By thus strengthening western front [those attending] believed Allies could hold until American forces arrive in numbers sufficient to gain ascendancy."
~General Pershing, report to Washington, 26 July 1917

The saved file is where u have selected the project of yours before u started editing them. If u have edited one file in particular the most then search for it and see the changes inside it to recognize the lost files.

There seems to be a bit of confusion.

If you work with Geomod and save your modifications at the end, before exiting Geomod, the files in the mod that you worked are saved.
There is no "Project Save File".

    Please refer to this post
for more details regarding the use of files (open the 'important information' drop down)
