All Save Games Corrupt
During the Grand Campaign all of my save games for that campaign get corrupted. (i.e. they will all crash when I try to load them regardless of how old they are.) The game runs great for the first part of the campaign, (and runs flawlessly in all other modes / battles), but towards the middle or late part of the Grand Campaign, (50+ turns in), this save game corruption happens every time. Sometimes it crashes and that causes it, but other times there is no crash associated with the corruption, it just stops loading.
I can start a new campaign and that campaign will work great, (until 50 or so turns in), but I can never get those corrupted save games to load again.
I have tried reloading the game, verifying files, and have haunted the forums for hours on end trying to find someone with a similar issue, and have found a couple but no solutions. This happens with both the Steam purchased and a store purchased install, (it was a shot in the dark and on sale, so I figured I'd try that), and I've gone so far as to rebuild my system completely only to have the same issue again.
I've not had this problem early in the game, (which makes it all the more frustrating...), but it happens every time. The game and mod will run perfect for 50 - 100 turns and then my save games get corrupted.
I'm running this on an XP Pro system with 4gigs of ram and an nVidia 9800GT video card. The only thing I've not swapped out hardware wise is the motherboard, and it happens on multiple video settings from the base to the top. It's like I'm cursed never to beat the game...
Any help would be appreciated, even a work around which would allow me to get my save games to load would be great. It's a great game and mod, but this issue is driving me mad.
Thank you for any help or ideas you can provide, and if you need more information from me, I'd be more than happy to get that to you.
