    Default mewbie loving ETW

going through Darthmod's Road to Independence. Loving that. Am i right? Does the RTI serve as a tutorial to the "real" game? Seems that way. I also suppose the scriptedness i see in RTI is similar to the scriptedness NTW. As far as trying the "real" game.. a bit confused there. I'm sweden, and just not sure what to do. ALl these complicated alliances everywhere, trade, ministers, buildings, gentlemen, ay yi yi.(wait! i'm not mexico, so i can't say that.) Now i'm quite sure that all those questions i have can be met by reading the forums even more, and by trial and error. And that's what i'll do. So please dont exert yourselves at all by trying to answer those. I'm very aware of the great resources of the forums But one quick question, if i might. Or two, or so. About researching tech. No matter how many gentlemen and no matter how many schools you have here and there, you can only research one tech at a time? so far i've just been pouring gentlemen into one town that has a school. I bet i'm missing something... Off to watch Lost finale now! Basil III

Each school can research seperately, they just need their own gentleman. Once you move a gentleman into a school, the Research and Technology panel should pop up (otherwise accesible through the lower left-hand menu). It will display each school that also has a gentleman in it, thus allowing you to select what it will research. All you do is click on the school you want to select (located towards the top of the window) and the technology you want it to research. This way you can research multiple technologies. Also, I believe they research faster with more than one gentleman in them but it is more efficient to have as many schools researching as possible, rather than one with all your gentlemen in it.

Sorry for the long post, but hope this helps

You don't need a gentleman in a school to use it for research. To research, simply click the research button (the one with distillery equipment). At the top of the panel that shows up should be icons of schools and universities. Click on one to select it, and then click on a technology to make it research that. By default you're only selecting one university, so that may be why you're having trouble.

Gentlemen speed up research done by the schools they are in. The amount they do is dependent on their traits. For example, a "Rustic Scientist" will speed up Industrial technologies but not any others. Multiple gentlemen in a single school will speed up research even further, although I hear there is some sort of cap to this bonus. I couldn't give you the numbers, I'm afraid.

You're also not Alpha 1 from Power Rangers...

In addition to Georgia's mention of multiple gentlemen: there's no cap, but diminishing returns on increased research means that more than three gentlemen per school is nearly useless. At least that's what I've found.
