I almost always let my preluding speech before a battle play out. I like to see if my troops are sufficiently energized and confident. I have seen that their reaction can have an effect on whether or not a respective leader is considered a warrior aristotle, or a dubya. From what I can ascertain, this combined with a battle's outcome can alter the possible traits that are either associated with or titled to a family member/general/character.
I suppose my question is: has anyone here seen an even basic correlation with the annoucments of the portents (spelling?) combined with the traits a general will receive when he achieves victory?
