Have anyone notice that Kaiser Franz I of Austria looks a little bit too old? He was the same age as Napoleon, but looked like an fragile old man with a stupid crown! And his stars are ridiculous, too, the only king that should have two stars is Friedrich Wilhelm III (Indecisive and controlled by his wife) or Napoleon (He annoyed other natipns very much!!! And his was an arrogant diplomat)

yeah his portrait is pretty bad, and i dont know how CA distributed the stars, but for some reason kings always have a bad rating in ETW and NTW

Because the star ratings are military, do you think Queen Elizabeth II could command an army completely on a battlefield!

Too bad that most emperors and kings of the Napoleonic Wars don't have their General Staff unit in the game.

You could say that Franz I was a true absolute emperor of Austria. With the fall of the Holy Roman Empire, he tried to maintain Austrian presence in the German states. Personally, I think that men such as Metternich and Schwarzenberg had more footnotes in history than him...

Too old? Maybe yes. In the books I've read, Franz wasn't really the man who could laugh easily. He was quite shy and pious.

Balance - if you gave George III no stars for being a madman, changed Alexander I's star rating and attributes every few turns to represent his 'mercurial' personality and gave Franz and Friedrich Wilhelm the one or two stars they deserve for being just weak and incompetent rather than stark staring bonkers it would rather disadvantage coalition players.

And Napoleon as a bona fide genius was not an incompetent diplomat

When he could give all his attention to a diplomatic problem - as he did for instance at Tilsit or in the various negotiations with Austria - he generally achieved great things: turning Russia from a sworn enemy to an ally for at least three years in 1807-10 was no mean achievement.

Similarly keeping Prussia out of the coalition until Austria and Russia had been neutralised as immediate military threats and he could direct the whole of the Grande Armee against them alone in 1806 was a brilliant move.

Where he was arrogant was his dealings with minor powers like Spain, Portugal, Naples etc - and it was this that ultimately led to his downfall.

Well, my main point is that they should use portraits resembling to their age. Francis was 38 in 1805, and don't you think he look too mature in his portrait?
And stars only matter a little, a trade agreement can easily balance the negative leader effects. CA should increase the diplomatic penalties (or bonuses) of nations' leaders and prime ministers' traits because they are the main director of your nations' foreign policy.
Too bad we now can't see other nation leaders' traits like in ETW, bring it back!!

True it should be the Prince Regent - the future George IV - however if George III dies he is replaced by William IV (who actually succeeded George IV)....

On portraits where do you begin? - there are so many wonderful real portraits of rulers, marshals and statesmen they could have scanned and used - but to save a few dollars they did these rather mediocre little cartoons instead.

And their are many historical errors far worse than Franz's apparent age - Naples and Sicily being separate kingdoms in January 1805 frex, Baden-Wurtemburg, the unhistorical rulers of new nations etc.
