does anyone else here try to never adopt? i have tryed it in my latest game, i was wondering if there was any actual benefit to it, i have checked the generals cards but havent noticed anything
yeah you keep the bloodline trait going. benefit is small and depends on the faction.
I couldn't care less about the tiny(if any) bonus it offers.
But I keep my bloodlines pure for roleplaying purposes.
I always keep pure blood lines and also try and match every family member with a princess from one of my allies. When it works, the roleplay factor is awesome.
However it can backfire when the med2 gods decide to bless me with only female children and the family almost dies outhave has to abandon campaigns due to this

I NEVER adopt. It just bothers me so much to have anyone in my family tree who is not a direct descendent of a family member.
If you like the picture of my woman, GIVE ME REP!!!!
BTW, what's the point of the "biological son" trait? Every time I adopt some idiot and my faction leader dies, one of them becomes crown prince, even if the new king has living brothers or nephews...
Its not intended to fix the heir selection if thats what your asking.
I do my best for the pure bloodline stuff...but I get swamped with so many adoption requests that my family members can't marry. Kinda sucked...I had to split governance of all of Scandinavia and a good portion of Outremer between the leader, heir, and a general(successful crusade that i didnt expect would work...safe to say my GENERAL who is unable to produce heirs managed to kick more Fatimid ass than my entire previous Templar campaign)
This is not always an insignificant bonus, unless you count a 15% bonus to trade as insignificant...
Stupid Venetians...
It is the ONLY way I play.
I never adopt/marry some random general in. The "Man Of The Hours" I only allow entrance into royalties if that captain gets it 3 x, even then he is not allowed to be married.
I don't do it for any of the bonuses it offers, only doing it for keeping my bloodlines pure as roleplaying enhancement.
It is a marvel to still have the Family name intact after 300 years.

Man in Black: [as he is unsuccessfully fighting Fezzik] Look, are you just fiddling around with me or what?
Fezzik: I just want you to feel you're doing well. I hate for people to die embarrassed.
I always keep my family bloodline pure.
The only time I ever adopt is when I am playing as the Knights Templar. I turn off the family tree for realism so its the only way to get new members.
Also I find it funny when I am asked to adopt a 32 year old, and the family member who adopts him is a 22 year old. That would be very awkward situation for my family member if I were to accept.![]()
