    Default R:EX without BI expansion?

    Hi!
I only have the original version of rome total war, patched to v1.5 without the expansions of alexander or barbarian invasion.
Is it still possible to install extended realism mod v.3.5.3 and play without problems?

Also, would it make such a big difference to the computer's AI and overall gameplay if I was to play Extended Realism without the BI expansion previously installed?

For those who did not understand:
I only have Rome Total War v1.5 without BI expansion and I want to install Extended Realism mod Is it going to cause problems?

    Should I follow these instructions http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=286669 ?

    Thanks in advance

Edit: Sorry about the mistake in thread name

You are correct, please follow the stickied thead which provides instructions on how to play ExRM without BI.

It won't cause any problems, the most recent version of ExRM doesn't use any BI features, however ExRM 4.0 will not be playable on the RTW 1.5 engine as it uses hordes.

However, I still have one little concern ;P
You see, during the setup process you can read the following: "This Mod requires R:TW Barbarian Invasion and must be patched to v1.6 otherwise problems will occur" ...

    I attached a screenshot:

Are you completely sure it is compatible?
So right after the installation is finished I should look for "export_descr_units.txt" file and make necessary changes?
Also, I belive the file is called export_descr_unit.txt, not "export_descr_units.txt" with the "s" at the end? :>

Yeah, just ignore the warning and install it. It'll be fine.

Right, there's no "S" at the end. Could you try running it without editing the EDU and let me know if it works, though? You may not need to do anything. OTOH, the worst that could happen is that it CTDs and you have to edit the EDU after all. Don't worry about that messing up a savegame; the EDU is read as needed during the game, so any changes you make will affect all units immediately (with the exception of unit size, which will only affect newly recruited units).

It appears to be working just fine and it looks awesome! I haven't edited any files yet...

However, when starting a new campaign, when you have to pick a faction you're gonna play with, I can still see Brutii and Scipii families... Strange
    It says "britions" for Scipii

Another thing is that when you click on different nations symbols or "logos", the map is supposed to show the territory owned by that faction when you start the campaign and its fine but the whole map itself is changing a little bit, sometimes its' borders are more bold or different colour and sometimes it changes size and shape in some places... :S I understand that it is just a little minor graphic error and theres probably much more important stuff to be done!

    Anyway, the mod is great

I'll get round to sorting that out for 4.0, it is a bit messy at the moment but it will get done.

Oops. Yeah, I only learned how to edit the icon files relatively recently (how was I supposed to know there's an alpha channel?), and I did the best I could with the radar maps, but I'm really not a very good artist. Thanks for taking a look at it, Carados.

Abra: You might actually get problems in the battle map. I'd keep an eye out for issues when it comes to that. Report back to us if you are (or aren't) having problems. It'll be valuable information.

QI: I actually started messing around with them weeks ago but I need to find a decent map to use and that's obviously a low priority at the moment so I abandoned it. We also need to finalise starting positions and provinces. All of which are subject to change as we try and get it all to work.
