This happens sometimes with cities. It might be best to just auto resolve the battle, take the win or the loss, and try to fight back.

My Macedonian campaign had this issue with Sardis. (Add to the fact I was having issues with some infection on my computer), I ended up having to reinstall... I lost my campaign. So depressing... But I was steam-rolling anyway.

Back to topic, just auto-resolve and deal with the outcome. If you are the type, do the auto_win attacker/defender cheat to win the city and then move on.

To avoid any corrupted files in the future, also make sure that you have autosave turned off

quicksave is the same as autosave for corrupting save game files

No, obviously you just have to do it the old fashioned way, by going to the main menu and then clicking "Save" and typing a name for your save in.
