Virus Attack Messed Up My PC! Help!

A couple days back a nasty virus attack infected my computer. I tried to use Avira Antivirus and Malwarebytes to cure it but they were inadequate and some viruses remained. So I decided to use Yahoo Anti-Spy and it amazingly fixed the problem.

However, ever since that, now somehow my Internet Explorer and Google Chrome cease to work at all. Although strangely my Firefox is still functioning fine. And also my antivirus and other programs can no longer update.

Can someone help me with this issue plz?!?

The other browsers claim internet connection problem. However, as I said, my Firefox is working fine. It seems somehow my internet settings have been changed or something.

is this some sort of joke.. ok the AVG was almost a legitimate thing (although theyve changed a few features over the years and i prefer avast)


but norton? seriously.... im sorry but norton mcafee and kapersky are the worst.. and they double screw you by making you pay.

I suggest using system restore or system recovery ideally a full format of the hard drive, an attack like this will have bound to have caused more problems you have yet to discover.

I just did system restore but the old problems persist and more problems appear now.

Sometimes when my windows loads up, some of the desktop icons disappear, some files disappear from the start menu, the audio is turned off, and I keep getting warnings saying "Host process for windows has stopped working".

THIS IS MADNESS!!!

System restore isn't likely to remove viruses. You need to re-install the OS.

x2 if your virus problem is so bad that internet explorer is so damaged that removing them didnt fix the problems... serious dll files were corrupted and possibly a sys file... best thing to do is chuck it up as experience format your drive and reinstall the os. NOT A QUICK FORMAT EITHER COMPLETE FRAGGING FORMAT..

I suggest installing Kaspersky Internet Security and using a 30 day free trial. IMHO it's the best anti-virus. Moreover, if a normal scan doesn't work, you could post your problem on their forum. They'll send you some scripts to run and this usually solves your virus problems (at least it did for me )

save your files if you still have access? then format away. only clean cut way I know. 100% works.
