    Default Random textures

    As the title suggests, I am looking to add a bit of variation to the textures in R:TW, as I find it annoying how several thousand barbarians charging at me ALL look identical.

    I have had a history of skinning with Dawn of War, and the texture files for 'random' models have repeated textures (i.e 4 head variations instead of one). I'm just not sure how to implement this into Rome, I know in Medieval there are random textures, so I'm hoping I would be able to simply use the concept from that. My guess is unwrapping the model in max and essentially copying the desired area of randomness across the different repeated elements, but what do I know?

    unfortunately its not possible in RTW.

    Oh yes I understand that.

    But what I was getting at was for having multiple faces (example) in one texture, then doing something with the unwrapping process to have various faces shown in game.

    There in lies the problem, there isn't a 'something'. RTW allows for one texture to appear on one model in game.

    It's possible, and not uncommon, for texture artists to use a texture for more than one model and UV map various combinations via the DMB. However you can only have 1 model per UV map.

    It is the programming of RTW/ALEX&BI,that the game can read only one texture base in a model,unlike MTW2 which is programmed to do much more. We have similar probs in the two weapon limit. Sadly depends on the programming and we can't alter it. I pondered this myself same as you before and hard to learn the hard way.
