Never Played Empire.

Been thinking about getting Empire, but i've heard alot of bad things about it. tbh empire is the only TW i missed, i've had them all since Shogun came out...
i'm finding myself fancying a bit of america bashing though, what's your thoughts on this? is it worth it or am i going to scream in frustration after loading it because NTW is WAAAAY better...

also anyone heard of a game called East inda company? appears to be a trading game set in the late 18th early 19th century.

i think napoleon is better than empire.

however the bigger scale of empire is a plus, and there are also good mods for it. i cant really tell you to buy it or not, but if i didnt have it, id buy it again

What is your rig like? Mine is quite poor but will play Napoleon much better than Empire; its more optimized. I havent tried empire with the 1.6 patch, maybe it fixes alot of the crashing and savegame corruption people were experiencing? You might like the additional theatres, but when I look at screenies of Empire now, the troops dont look nearly as good as Napoleon.

Wait until its on Steam Sale for like $5 (which it might be this week).

plays it on medium settings ok (ultra particle for smoke tho )
i'll keep an eye out for empire on steam this week thanks for the headsup, i guess i can't loose out for a fiver eh? (if it is that)

East India Company is really nice but it has no replayability(spelling?) since the only differences between the nations are position of ports and flags. If you've done it once, you've done it all...

ETW is a bit like NTW.
The main difference is that in ETW you have 50% to have a CTD after the 30th or so turn in your campaign

Empires better if you like playing in the Americas and India.. No matter how much I like NTW it feels a bit hemmed in as GB when just restricted to Europe

Though, if someone is interested by short campaign of 20-30 turns max, go for ETW.

I would recommend sticking with NTW.

I don't know how ETW is now since NTW was released but imagine yourself getting into a 100+ turn campaign and all of a sudden that campaign is over by corrupted save game or unavoidable CTD.

Or having an epic battle you just won trashed because of a CTD at the end of the battle.

It's just more grief than its worth, honestly.

Do those corrupted saves still happen? I was under the impression that problem was sorted in the first patch. I myself have never had any problems with that and rarely get CTDs either (and don't know of anyone outside of these forums that has any major problems with them).

I'd definitely recommend Empire (especially if you play with DarthMod) and you can already get it pretty cheap in most places anyway.

Empire post patch 5 is my 3rd favourite Total War. It's a fantastic game and, when used with DMUC, can bring the same, if not more enjoyment than RTW or M2TW

ETW covers a much larger area than NTW, in time and space, but NTw is a more stable game. But if you have all the DLCs and patches (it will auto-patch), it will have unit diversity and you'll very rarely get a CTD.

I think you should get it now, it's not at 50$ now anyway

I've seen that sega pack, £14 or thereabouts. not bad but i already have rome and med2 with the addons so i may just buy empire direct.

no, they have released everything on DLC, also the special units of the special forces ed.
